For any following the Mainland - England thread, if you're interested in getting involved in this SL, following is the information on it, and how to become involved. This SL is being posted on this forum and on the England 1525 Forum too.
While war rages abroad, England enjoys wealth and prosperity, led by a young King who is as daring and influential as his father. The Royal Court will become the chessboard at home, where each pawn is strategically moved for a subtle shift of power.
Those who were born into Nobility have been taught the game all of their life, the politics of their land, and the tactics they must employ to retain the heritage of the peerage before them. And while they continue to consolidate power, the King’s favored companions of childhood, those who own no title, begin to filter into the leagues of the Royalty.
Intrigue is high, and tension is mounting. The King, has yet to produce a male heir and secure his lineage, as well as dissuade civil war. With ambition, or with honor, anything is possible in England, 1525.
The year is 1525, in the midst of December. Days are cold and nights are even colder. There is always the chance of snow and at present there is a light dusting upon the ground. King Henry is in a state of turmoil as he has petitioned the Cardinal Wolsey as well as the Pope to annul his marraige to Catherine whom cannot bear him an heir. The grounds being sought to be used is that her marriage to her prior husband Arthur, had been consumated. The current Pope has been forced by Catherine's nephew, the Emperor Charles V whose troops have pillaged Rome, to be locked away in the Vatican as he had decided to give in to King Henry's demands to annul the marriage. It is the beginning of the first of the Franco-Hapsburg Wars, Charles V now Holy Roman Emperor has captured the French King Francis I at the battle of Pavia in Italy. It seems the world has gone mad as there is also a current bill in affect to rid England of Heresy. Prussia has been made a Protestant State. Though amongst all the infinite horror, Court life goes on as usual.
