Basinstoke Estate
For many years after Ard, Payton, and Carlotta had left, all was well on the homefront. Earlene had retained the family homestead, one that was in the Basinstoke family for five generations, as well as a handsome settlement in her divorce from Ard. Ard's legal practice is what kept the flow of funds to enter the home, those which Earlene had utilized to the fullest, to throw elaborate parties for her daughters to be paraded around in. There were also the lastest styles shipped in from Paris. A lifestyle that Earlene and Caireach had become accustomed to.
Arthgallo and Eachan had joined together, in the raising, training and selling of battle trained horses. Quite a profitable venture, though slow going in the last few years. Keena had put her bow up for the time being, and joined Glenna to work in her bakers shoppe. Glenna's recipes were still one of the major draws, but the buisness did not make the same sort of money that their father use to bring home. It was always a battle to keep their profits, to expand as they wished to, due to their mother constantly draining them for what she could. Hoyt spent more and more time away from home, spending almost weeks on end in the Emerald forests to futher his training as a Druid. Though many times he made himself available for any in need, to practice in his capacity as a priest.
Caeoimhin, after a year or so, followed his mother, Payton, and his step father to Westminister. There he went into practice within his step father's office. Strengthening his position as an influential Lawyer. Elatha spent her time in the accompaniement of Hoyt. They had become best of friends, and many speculated lovers. Working together on their training as Druids. Adam has strengthened his skills as a gambler. Still in the midst of recovery, or so was his claim, his days and nights were spent in various pubs. There he'd engage in bets, on anything coin could be placed on. Making enough to keep food, ale, and whiskey in his belly, and fashionable clothing to ensure he'd capture the eye of a lovely lass to share an evening with. His favorite choice of women, were those who were well to do. Widows were his main targets, those who would take him in, doddle over him, give him money to buy what ever he desired, and access to their lovely jewelry, that he would take to utilize as betting material.
Most were content with their lives as they were. It would be Earlene and Caireach that were having the hardest of times. As the funds began to dwindle, so did their social events. Which began to cause much resentment between the two. Caireach's temper tantrums became more frequent, at being told no on having some fancy dinner, or dance, due to lack of funds.
In the end, it would lead to Caireach leaving her home in Cork to travel to Westminester, England. To live with her father and his new wife. A strange situation there. Her step mother was also her aunt. At least there she was back into the lifestyle she was accustomed to. Payton would flaunt all over her, making sure she went to every affair in London and in territories close by. It was during one of these that she met the man who was set on marrying Carlotta, whom all had thought dead and lost after her lengthy disappearance. Finding out the man was extremely wealthy, she set to the task of capturing his eye, and was successful. She is now engaged to the man of growing wealth and power. Soon enough she'll have access to all she ever wanted.
Such was the life of the Basinstokes and Bartley's. Until they learned that Carlotta was not dead, but taken captive by brutal bandits. Payton then spent her waking hours in hopes of gaining news of her missing child, as did Ard. Hoyt spent more and more time running his step father's (Uncle's) business, why Ard set to the task of finding his baby girl.
