The blistering heat of summer hardly granted him thrill of being warm. A life that had consumed him had left him with such a cold embrace. Almond irises caught motion of those departing and then the quick glance from the women near the counter. The flip of her hood had the Tsol Raa looking toward the blonde-tressed femme beside her. He knew her. How could he forget her? Osiris never forgot a face. A blessing and a curse in many forms. Quiet steps brought him toward the unlit hearth. The icy blade in its sheath was removed and set against the wall. A spot on the furniture was claimed and he removed the hood. Long strands of onyx fell about shoulder length and his eyes closed briefly. A simple, but meaningful smirk met with the corner of his mouth.
She watched as Cricket went to her room, then attention shifted to the newest entry. It took a moment and then a blink of surprise. She had thought him dead, at least she was informed he was so. This seemed to be a day filled with not only surprises, but faces from her past. The item Cricket left her would be collected, and this placed into the lead lock box kept under the bars counter. What better place to keep items of that caliber. It was then she snagged a bottle of whiskey and two glasses and headed over to the winged back chairs that rested before the cold hearth. "So ... you're not dead, or did someone resurrect you?" How's that for a greeting to her old mentor? The man who taught her the art of stealth so many years ago. Also the man who's ass she wanted to beat, when he had her appear naked in a full tavern... even if it was only an illusion she sees herself, she still wanted to beat his ass; just never got the chance. The bottle set upon a table that rested between the two chairs and she'd move around to claim the other one unoccupied.
What sounds that were audible were paid attention to the most. It was an attempt to empty his thoughts and clear the way of what may come. It was the sweet assonance of her familiar voice that had him easing his focus onto her. “Good evening to you as well, " Condensation lifted from his mouth as his spoke. Another visual acknowledgement that ice ran through his veins. “I suppose you of all people deserve to know... “He didn't make a movement beyond his seated position.” Do you recall the seven sectioned staff I had you seek out to retrieve? “A moment for any sort of facial recognition on her part.” I was entombed by its original owner. “How was that for starters? Tsuyosa’s eyes fixated upon Ekaterina. Obviously, he was telling the truth. Why would he lie to her?
Icy shards of blue openly regarded the man she once called mentor. Head tilted slightly as she listened and then slowly nodded in remembrance. "Ja, I remember. We found the items and have hidden them away, since I never seen you again after you gave us the duty to seek them out. Was that the price you paid for our actions?" Even if it was by his orders they had done so. He should be proud, even after he disappeared; they continued the search until all parts were recovered.
Osiris was very proud of his students. Ekaterina and Padfoot were exceptional and even to this day their efforts were appreciated. “I sought out Matsugo to buy you more time. At the time I was foolish enough to believe I could maintain his power. “He was more or less satisfying her potential curiosity.” The power of Matsugo cocooned me. It kept me sealed away from time and space so that its strength could be siphoned safely. With the staff in your hands it had no choice but to be pulled into me. “A slow cant of his head while he maintained his focus upon her.” It wasn't until recently that I've been released. I owe Padfoot and yourself my life, Ekaterina. “It was spoken with genuine fact.” If the pair of you had not completed the task... that power would have consumed Matsugo. The roles would have been different and it would have been his face you seen today instead of my own." What did that really mean, though? "While the dark deeds of our lives cannot be erased. There is neither mercy nor sympathy derived from that beast. A shroud of darkness would have covered the world until a crimson sheet was pulled over its entirety." He'd let her soak that in for a moment. Tsuyosa's eyes canting toward the fireless hearth for a moment.
The cork was pulled free of the bottle she brought, both glasses filled to the halfway point. One glass pushed closer for him to claim if he so chose, the other would be held in hand. Icy hues fixed upon him as he spoke of what transpired and what could have been. When he spoke of how she and Padfoots actions actually saved him, she bowed her head forward slightly; they had no clue. "We only did as you had bid us, as was the way of it. A command is to be followed, even in the absence of the one who gave it, until the task is complete." Head rose as her focus was upon him once more. "After gaining the last piece, Padfoot disappeared. I'm unsure as to what happened, or why, but I was left tending to the pieces myself. Padfoot had tried to assemble them, and it was after that I never seen him again. I have kept the pieces separate, and had lead cases created in which each piece is housed. They are placed in a larger lead case that is kept where none will find it." It was then she'd smirk slightly. "They may try, but they may not like what guards its safety." Ahhh, her lovely little pets that she kept, so many feared the venomous creatures that she loved so well. "You never did instruct us what to do with it once all pieces were found and it was the only thing I could think to do to keep them safe and me safe from whatever powers they held."
There was a smile that heated up his facade. It seemed unbefitting by the arctic soul that sat before her. “Even now you'd follow the words of a stubborn old man.” He reset his attention onto her and allowed her story to captivate his auditory sensory. “There is a key that is needed as well. It's molds into the head of the staff and allows them to be conjoined. “Perhaps that solved a piece of the puzzle.” I had sent Meredith and Sabrial on a mission to retrieve it. Needless to say, they failed. “There was a look of disgust that crossed his facade.” Not out of their inability but out of their negligence. Fornication was more important and lust became their weakness. While I may not have been able to act I could still watch the world. “Contemplation soaked upon is facade. Dark eyes residing within her icy gaze. “I had intended on returning so that I could relieve you of the staff. Unfortunate circumstances had prevented such. If the key had been found and it had been in near proximity of the staff; I'd have never been cocooned. “She still had it.” You've done my proud, Ekaterina. While it may have been by my orders you took initiative with Padfoot. I only regret he is not here with us. “Truth. It etched across his face. “I have the key with me. The threat of whatever evil loomed is nonexistent anymore. However, the power of the staff is not meant to sleep and upon its awakening I'm sure it will alert more dangerous entities to it. I have but one more mission to fulfill before we can do just that. “A second was taken to look at his glass.
"Padfoot was a friend to me, although I know he wanted more than I was able to give him." A hint of a smile to touch upon lips briefly. "He was as diligent as I in seeking it out; in hopes it would bring you back to us, or allow him the powers to find you; which never transpired." Focus would shift to her glass. "I pledge allegiance to you, all those years ago, and it remained until the task you commanded had ended. I kept the item because you said it would create havoc in the wrong hands." Looking back up at him. "You know I abhor magic, and any item that possesses it. I could have gotten rid of it many times over, but never did, because your words continued to ring within the back of my mind. I had left instructions with a few that I can truly trust, that if anything was to ever happen to me, the box was to be taken aboard one of my ships. They were to sail for two days out into the vast spans of the ocean, and there it was to be dumped overboard. It has no value to me, beyond the fact it was gotten for you." Head tilted slightly as she listened to him further. "A mission? Of what sort?"
Reminiscing about the fellow warrior sparked mental images to emerge for the sub-zero creature. Despite Osiris’s cold nature there was still the warmth he felt from such loyalty and friendship. A rarity within their world. She recalled every detail it seemed and it didn't surprise him one bit. Ekaterina was a top notch warrior and an even fiercer woman. "It would have been a wise decision on your part. What magic that can't be controlled for the greater good is not worth its memory. “Was Tsuyosa saying he could control its power? It sounded that way. “I’m quite aware of your distaste for magic. Yet, I feel your chance meeting with me had instilled a greater tolerance to it. After all, I'm still breathing. “If you wanted to call it that.” A young paladin had discovered my location a few years back. I was able to communicate with him through the mind. Tobias was after a particular book. It is linked to the staff as well. “Osiris’s eyes took on a more golden shade.” While many of the spoken incantations are destructive; the power of that book counter acts its energy. I'm not mage or priest but I'm willing to believe that if both were gathered that I could restore the order of balance. Not sure if you're aware but it has become slightly one-sided lately. As a guardian to the Wells of Twilight I cannot allow such to happen. It is my final act before I can be free of those bounds... and be myself... again. “So, slightly selfish but being so cold all the time didn't really make one feel as human as they should.
Now that made her blink when he spoke of the name. "Tobias?" She remembered such a paladin; he had stopped at this very place. "I know of this man." They had spoken to great lengths, and like so many others, when he left, he was never seen again. "He said he was seeking something, and he knew it was here, in Kiel." Though he never told her what he sought, so she was unable to continue to seek for it herself; and she would have. It would have been out of curiosity, but also to make a profit if she could, by ways of gaining favors or holding someone in debt to her. "If it’s still here, which I'm unsure of, or even where it might be, then you could put all the pieces together."
Osiris provided another soft nod. “I knew the boy's father. A silver dragon that I taught in the art of healing disciplines. Powerful; but he was slain before the boy's birth. “There was a confirming dip of his head.” He was. The very book I am after now. Originally, I thought it to be the only source of releasing me from my prison. However, I should have known that the worm eventually becomes a butterfly. “Logic that had been lost on him at the time.” I cannot be sure if it is or it isn't. Unlike the other pieces it conceals its power and hides away from those who seek it. While a bit of selfishness drives me to obtain these three pieces. I cannot help but look forward onto the greater picture. I'll have a choice to make... I do not know if I'll make the right one. “Rare that the myth second guessed himself. Though, it was clear he was by the pondering expression that hinted around his features. “Time is on my side this round.” The only benefit of eradicating Matsugo's influence.
She sipped her whiskey as she listened to him explain further about a quest that had started so many years ago. Of the three pieces he spoke of, he personally had one, and she the second. Now a task to find a book is all that kept him from the quest being complete. "I wouldn't even know where to begin to seek out such a book, especially since I know not what it is, or who might possess it. Or was it hidden away, like some of the pieces of the staff was?" So many questions, she sounded like that young student he took under his wing so many years ago. "What sort of choice will you have to make?" If it meant to regain his life again, did it come with a price? And if so, what price did it demand?
It was a lot of information to take in and he wouldn't ask Kat to take on anything after her bout with his last request. “Neither do I. It never stays stationary and constantly moving. At one time the crusaders of Jerusalem kept it under locked and key believing it to be their salvation. It was then commandeered by an army of raiders who overthrew it. Several years later it returned beneath the reign of the oriental emperor and transited into the hands of a barbarian king. It's last place of origin was here according to Tobias. It is the Ledger of Rituals. A gold encased book with blank pages to those who don't know how to read it's literature. It's identity is unmistakable by the Gaelic cross with the silver image of a battle axe emblazed across it. “It was just as worldly influenced as Osiris was. He didn't mind her questions. In fact, he missed the way she used to look at him when she held such curiosities. “I remember that face, “he started to chuckle and then he leaned back a bit further. She wanted to know about the choice. “I can sacrifice my life to remain a guardian. Maintain my gifts but I'd remain this... vagabond of time. I could personally ensure balance. But, if I choose my freedom... “He looked toward the fireplace once again.” I'll be just as mortal are you are. I'd have to entrust on the creature that follows in my footsteps to maintain the order. “There was a subtle sigh. He had some heavy weights on his shoulders and he was carrying them rather proudly considering.
She sat for a moment, going through her memories, trying to think if she'd ever seen such an item; but could not recall. But, she had sources she could turn to and have them seek out the areas she knew might keep such items. There were a few she knew that collected rare and strange items, she knew this because she had procured a few for them herself. It meant the death of the one she gotten it from, but it didn't matter to her, it was a job she did. "I have some that work for me, which are good at seeking out information and items of interest. They understand what secrecy means, and they know the price if they should break my confidence." She made a point of proving that fact several times in their presence. A slit throat, disembowelment, which ever she thought would impact them more and cause fear, it’s what she did. It was his last comment that had her looking at him. "You've been a powerful man for as long as I've known you; could you survive being a mortal like me?" A hint of a smirk. "That would mean no more illusions of making women think they're naked in a public setting." Teasingly stated.
The Tsol Raa nodded lightly. He knew Kat had some ties and she was a merciless weapon in her own right when she chose to be. “It would be very beneficial to keep this quiet. Tell only those you trust because if that book drifts away there may not ever been another chance to capture it. “He found her looking to him and Osiris allowed their eyes to meet full on. She began to smirk and Tsuyosa had to laugh as well. “I wasn't always this gifted, Ekaterina.” He pushed to his feet and made his way toward her at a casual pace. She might have even felt the deathly chill that rolled from his presence as he drew closer. “I was hardly any different from you before I became... this.” He knelt beside her chair but he kept his arms across the bend of his left knee. “I made the daily bread for my family by hunting from the shadows. A mercenary of death and a wraith of the night. It was a time where I could still feel the warmth from another. “How he missed it, actually. She'd be close enough to see small ice-caps glistening within his chocolate gaze. “Living forever isn't all it is made out to be. Eventually, the pain of the world makes you so cold... so numb... that everyone else can just feel it radiate." At this point his hand came to rest against her cheek. It was cold enough to make the flesh frostbitten but there was no potential for injury. Maybe even feel what it was like to breathe as he did with such coolness. The touch of his hand faded and he stood. “You look good without clothing. Even if it is just an illusion. “He teased back and returned to his chair. Softly sitting down and looking right at her.
Icy shards watched as he approached, the color of her eyes reflected the essence of himself. "I could not bear to live a life where I watched all wither and die that I knew, and the world change to the point it was no longer familiar to me. I know one day I will be called to Valhalla, just as my father had, though he had no choice. I'm sure my end will come in much the same manner, by the hand of another. At least then I will live in glory amongst those I once cared for, when I had the ability to care." The passing years had hardened her, and the loss of loves didn't help the matter much either. "My sister, although she is not of blood, but one whom I have grown close enough to call such over the years, has begged me to allow her to make me immortal like she. She's a celestial being, though she creates more chaos then a hoard of dark mages. I keep refusing her offer, because of what she wants me to become. I spill enough blood alone by my hands; I don't wish it to be the essence upon which my existence is dependent." Yes, Jade had wanted to see her turned into a nocturnal creature of the night, and such a thought actually turned her stomach. When he touched her, a chill ran through her and goose bumps formed upon her flesh. Pale hues met his of darkness. "Pain of the world makes you cold, be you immortal or mortal, Osiris." Calling him by the name she was familiar with. Even though his touch was cold, her head tilted slightly to press more against it. She remembered the days when she longed for his touch, but never voiced her wants. He was her mentor, she his student, and it wasn't her place to ask. His response to her naked exposure only had her chuckling. "Mmhmm, you said no one could see that but me, so you lied." Not accusing him, it was stated in amusement and teasing still. "Now I know I have no secrets from you, for you've seen me in a way only a rare few can claim. Very rare few." Those who had were now long since dead and gone.
Attentive ears picked up everything and Osiris analyzed it all. Something’s just never change. “There are times where it is glorious. Times where you are thankful. Then, there are times you feel cursed. Betrayed by your own eternal life. “It was stated in the direction of conversation about her sister. Not influencing her either way. “It is the way of life. The road to hell has been paved with the best of intentions, however. “What Osiris didn't anticipate from the dark hearted femme was the lean against his touch. It stirred a forgotten world within him. She had even called him by name and it lead to him closing his eyes. They lifted upon hearing her chuckle and his smile was reclaimed. “Now I would have wished I'd have taken the opportunity.” He even shot her a wink and began to laugh a little more. “I’ve never been one to really admit to what I feel. But, an absence of solitude teaches more than any soul is willing to admit, Kat. “He made sure he had her full attention.” I've missed everyone dearly. The laughs and the good times. They weighed on me in there. I think above everyone I missed you the most. “She could take that however she wanted.” Say we find the book and it reacts in the way it is supposed to in theory. Do you think you could show me how to live? “An odd question coming from master of the dark arts. However, he felt she knew what he meant.
His words borne an actually smile, a rarity to be seen anymore. Pale eyes remained fixed upon him. "I understand perhaps more than anyone, how solitude makes one feel. It's been the largest part of my life, and at times, it's the easiest part to live. If alone, there's no pain, no worries ... however, there is boredom to contend with." Truth in words, although humor intermixed. "I think the only reason you missed me, is because I was the source of your entertainment." Oh, she remembered the games he use to play, at her expense. As much as she wanted to punch him in the nose for them, they were also the best tools he used to teach her with also. It helped to shape her into what she is today, perfected her skills to make her one of the most formable assassins in existence; though few knew what she truly was. It was his last words that had her looking at him with a slightly raised brow. "I would assist you in any way possible Osiris. But my life is not how it once was; many things have changed over the years. I'm sure you'll be surprised, and perhaps hold a sense of pride in what I've achieved." A glance around to ensure they were alone before attention was back upon him. "Due to the art of my trade, and the tragedies of my life, I nearly own all of Port Kiel now... the lands, the businesses, and most of it's people." She was no Queen, nor held a title beyond that of Baroness; which she gained through actions of acquiring what she had now. But, she had the power that such ownerships gave to one.
The methods that Osiris utilized were not the typical ways of teaching. However, they were beyond effective and he also knew at some point it would be recognize. He had not the honor of testing her skill lately but perhaps one day in the future he would see how far she had come. “You are good sport." did he just make a funny? Ha! At least humor was not lost on the battle weathered man. “I didn't do it out of sheer punishment or my amusement. Humility often reminds us of what not to do... or at least not to do it when someone else is watching. You were a fatal beauty then. I can only imagine how strong and graceful you are now. “He wasn't challenging her. It was a commendation. Surprise? He was a little bit. “They say subtlety holds the greatest power. I suppose you're going to have to kill me now that you told me your secret. “He fashioned a grin and looked right at her.” If that book is in town. I've faith, with your contacts, that it'll be found. Or, at the very least give us a scent to track down. “There was hope yet.” And, uh. If I do become mortal... I request twenty-four hours before ya start kicking I disagree. “Such a charmer.
A grin to form at him calling her a good sport, not something anyone would agree with him on. Most here considered her cold, hard headed and just plain mean. But then, they didn't know the true nature of the Nordic woman. In actuality, he knew her better than most. A chuckle to the comment about taking his life. "I believe my secret is safe with you Osiris, because I know too many of your own that have lain dormant and unspoken." This time she'd be winking at him, then that glass of whiskey was lifted to sip from as she continued to listen. Lowering as she spoke. "If it's here, as Tobias believed it to be, it'll be found, now that I know what's being sought." Head tilted slightly as she listened more and then she'd smirk. "Hmm, I have to wait that long? ..." Chuckling. "... I suppose I've waited all these years, I could give you a day or two more." Teasingly stated.
Osiris had been on the receiving end of her ferocity. When that hellcat broke out she wasn't one to contend with. “I’m sure there are more than just those secrets to be shared.” He had called her out on that little notion. Recalling how she had leaned against his hand. But, then she winked and he began to smile once more. The subject shifted back toward Tobias and the book. “At this rate I better start a tab." It was clear he wasn't talking about his drinking habit either. “Tobias played an integral role. He got us this far and I'd like not for his effort to be in vain. “Then, it all veered in a more humoring direction. The corners of his mouth lifting as he nodded. "Well, color me honored." Concentration veered to the empty hearth. It had always been his favorite spot. It didn't matter what time of the year it had been. “I know I've asked for a lot, Ekaterina. I've got one more favor to request." Keeping his eyes upon the hearth. “Do you have any spare rooms available?” Of course he had the coin. What sort of fool would walk up in here thinking they were going to crash for free?

Free. She liked free, and intended to enjoy it while it lasted. A light step was heard to creak upon the stairs, and finding no need to go skulking about and listening around corners, she was not silent on her trip down. A quick glance at both, easy to ascertain that little had changed since she had left. She did not however, intend to interrupt them for long, only on her way out for the evening. But... always the smart ass, her intrusion was accompanied by her voice as she made her way down. “Seems I never catch anyone naked these days...”
“Only a few.” In response to the secret comment. A slow shake of her head. “You need no tab, your coins are no good here Osiris.” The man had something so very few could lay claim to, he had her respect as well as her friendship. She owed him a lot, although it wasn't a debt she knew he would claim. He taught her the truth about the world when she was still young and naive, still trying to make her place in this world. “I have several that are open, and one I think you'll enjoy in full. It has a large hearth in the parlor as well as the bedroom. I'll see to it that the fire blazes in both, just for you.” Heat of the summer, none were lit nor was fuel in the rooms, for him she'd make an acceptance. It would be the voice of the rogue that captured her attention, followed by those icy shards that now directed towards Cricket. “Why? Have you been secretly hoping to see me naked?” Teasing lilt to her tone, and a grin upon her lips. “Osiris, this is Cricket, another face from my past that recently appeared. She's staying in the private quarters on the third floor for now.” Looking over to him, then back to Cricket. “This is Osiris, another from my distant past who will be staying here.” Since they both had rooms, it would be by chance they might cross paths again. Might as well introduce them so they could converse if they so choose when it happened.
A soft nod of respect and approval was passed along to Ekaterina. The woman was too kind to him sometimes. He didn't feel like he deserved her friendship or respect. “Much obliged, “ He added. The creak upon the stairs had the ears of the Tsol Raa twitching and he was already looking in that direction. Naked? The retort from Kat had him laughing and then shaking his head lightly. “You just have to be quicker. “ His octaves were full of depth and wisdom despite the humor that laced them. “It is a pleasure, Cricket. “ A more serious baritone to ensure she had attention. He turned to locate Kat once more. “Does she come with the room? “ He was joking. The Tsol Raa wouldn't ever take perverse advantage over another even with the power he had bestowed. His gaze drifted down to the whiskey before him. It was still untouched and then he looked toward Cricket. “There is a drink on the table if you like.” He didn't drink the stuff. He was more of the tea and water sort of man.
She snorted in retort to Kat, taking the last step of the stairs and joining the two of them in the common room. “Secretly, nau... Publicly, aye... as does the lot of mankind.” She dropped a wink to Ekaterina, and then turned the curl of a smile toward the man at his retort, muttering as if to herself, but not without humor of her own “story of my life... not quick enough...” but chuckling as she nodded in greeting to the man. “Well met Osiris... but nau, I only come with the room if this Lady wants thine head on a platter” She flashed one of her patented grins, there and gone in a second. Her sight dipped once to the glass offered, but she rarely if ever took drinks from even her friends. Instead she produced an ornately carved silver flask and perched herself upon the edge of a table. “Kind of thee, but I’ve a nip of me own. ...Ill nae stay long either, I’m on my way out for a while.”
Crickets’ comments had her chuckling as she watched the woman. Osiris thought she had a quick wit, wait till he matched with that of the Rogues. “Now, now ... I need his head on his shoulders for now. Will do me little good if it's upon a platter ... unless it continues to think and speak.” Teasingly stated with a glance towards her former mentor. “Though if you do find yourself in need, Osiris, I'm sure I could have a few from the docks shipped to your room to be dispensed as you please.” One thing about the docks, it didn't lack of women whose trade was simply fulfilling pleasure; and emptying pockets. They were also a good source of information. How men like to talk and brag about themselves over a bent head. Looking then to Osiris. “You care not for the whiskey? What tastes do you savor?” Best to know, since he'd be staying for a time, to ensure she had the proper stock in beverage. “You do eat meat, don't you?”
Now he understood why the two got along so well. They were alike in some regards and some of her comments were something he'd expect from Kat. She was a smooth criminal and he became quiet while the two conversed about where his head should be. “Not sure if it does or not. No one's ever had the skill to take it. “He offered a grin of his own until it was mentioned about him having women shipped to his room. He was laughing and shaking his head again. “I appreciate the offer but I believe I'll pass. Figured I'd wait for the right one to come along and just take advantage of her, you know? Might be worth the wait. “That might have been news to some. The flask that Cricket presented brought an affirming nod. ”Unfortunate, you're departure that is. I believe Kat was about to dance for us.” He looked to Kat with the most mischievous of smirks. No, he wouldn't do that to her. ”Whiskey and I don't settle well with one another, my dear. Sure you could understand that someone like me being inebriated might have some rather drastic effects.” Then, he proceeded to answer her second question. “I'm content with water and tea. Nothing fancy at all.” And, another! “Who isn't a carnivore? “ He flashed a light smile and shifted his attention to the empty hearth and then toward his weapon. Surely, the chill of it had stopped for now.
A short nip pulled from her flask, its etchings of rune and glyph and all too soon tucked back into the folds it came from, while in exchange, a slim silver banded cane was produced and planted upon the boards that both her hands to rest upon it. There seemed amusement at a possible challenge as he proclaimed his head still held residence upon his shoulders due to his own skill and not simply luck or fate. The amusement too had been at his brief fluster as Kat had threatened to send every sleeper on the docks to his rooms. Curious, as the man spoke... and she wondered exactly what he meant by someone like me. Needing a fire... no whiskey... a chill that preceded... it was a mystery... and those interested her. However... her respect was with Ekaterina and this was an acquaintance... an old one she had said, and with sharp black eyes regarding this individual, she spoke to him, her accent difficult to place. “I dare say thine head is better on its shoulders... for I’d much rather hear the delicious tales of Ekaterina’s reckless youth.”
That did gain him a quirk of brow when he spoke of waiting for the right one. She remembered a time when he said he'd never settle down, more like tied down was the comment he once made. “Me? Dance?” Eyes narrowed a bit at him. “Oh no you don't!” Yes, she was warning him, as if she'd really have a choice when his mind was set, and she'd even shake a finger at him to accentuate her point. “I have several styles of teas, so I'm sure we can meet your tastes.” To the carnivore comment, she'd just simply chuckle. “You forget, Osiris, I have seen you well into your cups. Thankfully I was not caught up in the aftermath of your drunken games.” Though she did remember a few asses on fire, and a tavern nearly destroyed with almost a single motion of his hand; at least to the furniture that is. A glance towards Cricket and she'd chuckle. “Now now, there are no juicy stories there.” Well there were, and Osiris better keep them to himself, so said in the look she now gave him. “I was just free spirited and full of rage. All he did was helping me to direct it better.” This was the truth.
Osiris had noted Cricket's amusement to his words. The Tsol Raa wasn't against a challenge if she so desired to bless him with one. However, curiosity often kills the cat. How many lives did she have? “I wouldn't, “ He said to ease her mind. There was a time it wouldn't have been a thought but that was before Osiris took greater care in his own approaches. Then, she had to remind him of the times he had been a bit drunk. One cup too many had caused quite the chaos. “Youth does not escape any of us.“ It was all he said in his defense! But, that reserved grin was saying so much more. Thankfully, Cricket had taken them into a different direction. Lips began to part and then he caught Kat's death if you do it stare. “Yes...“ He said trying to fight back a laugh. “Very free spirited and quite angry. But, she became one of my greatest students and one of my most trusted friends.“ He turned to look upon Cricket. “I'm sure she'll provide you with all the details in private.“ He looked over toward Kat. “However, should you find the urge to test your abilities in the future. I'd be more than willing to see how talented you are.“ Cricket would come to understand that Osiris was quite a reader. It was a very useful talent that he had honed over the years and it benefits him more than any of the magic he could wield. He had not forgotten about the statement about tea. “I enjoy it with honey. “
Crickets’ direct gaze at the gentleman never wavered and it had a way of looking deep. It disconcerted many, and his suggestion against challenge was taken openly, without defense. It also wrought another of those flashing grins, dangerous and bright and gone. She took on a faux pout though, as the two went back and forth with look and word. “Bah.. I had thought to delay my departure, if it were to stay and see a dancing Ekaterina and hear juicy tales. But alas.. It seems that her look alone has quashed my chances at entertainment.” She sighed theatrically.. But then a sliding look was given Osiris as she slid off her perch and firmly to her feet. She chuckled. “Talented I am.. But I have nae gotten this old without some wisdom, Sirrah.” She now gave him a wink, that half said she was pleased with the challenge as it was, and had no need to press it further, albeit it would no doubt be interesting. “..Perhaps some time in the future.. And to the winner, a tale.” She now turned her bright smile to Kat. “Interesting patrons indeed” she repeated herself, and with a lift of her cane in a salute of departure, she headed for the door. “Try not to stain the tables’ aye?” That grin was for the both of them, before she stepped out and closed the door behind her.
Attention shifted between the two as they spoke, and chuckles sounded when comments were made about her wild and randy days long passed. A grin to form when the challenge was put forth. “Now, now, you're not a youthful boy anymore Osiris.” It was meant as a tease, for she knew the man well, and knew his abilities. Enough she'd make sure to never cross his path when he was angered, or had a want to draw blood. She didn't plan to live forever, but she knew better than to flaunt a red flag before a raging bull. A glance towards Cricket. “I dance like a cow walking through a muddy field.” Said with a grin. Then a chuckle about the staining. “Ahhh, I do my best not to deface the furniture because I'd have to replace it, and my patrons do that enough on their own.” Just the night prior they had to scrub the blood of one off the floor, and replace a window in which the man was tossed through before being impaled upon the broken shards by his opponent. “It can get lively in here on some nights.” Some things never did change.
The dark haired male didn't seem the least put off by her direct attention. In fact, he was used to it. “A tale it is. We can discuss the details at a later time.“ He knew she was looking to depart soon so he didn't want to hold her up. Osiris, a young boy? “Sadly, I am not.“ No Peter-Pan complex here. “Though, in some regard I'm a bit more youthful than you.“ Did he just play the old card on Kat? It certainly seemed that way. As far as the Tsol Raa becoming angry it took a lot to pass that threshold. However, when it occurred the results were beyond cataclysmic. Kat had but an ounce of it displayed but Osiris could become quite a monster when the need arose for it. There were just some things one couldn't take so lightly. Right now, though, he was laughing with the statement from Cricket and Kat's follow up. “Just means she's using it for the wrong reasons.“ There was a look to the whiskey once more and he did decide to indulge. One wouldn't hurt and he only took half of the contents within. “With you around how do things stay subtle? “ A departing wave to Cricket as she slipped out and his focus returned to Kat. “Dock women, huh? “ He just laughed and shook his head. “Nice, I like that.“ d**n woman.
Cricket laughed with them both, the rich sound of it following her out, calling back that she didn’t envy Kat, and didn’t miss running a tavern at all, a nod to the wave and then gone.

That had her chuckling as she looked over at him. "Well, there are worse actually." Than the dock women, there were those that hung out in the alleys, they were dirtier and smelled worse. At least the dock women bathed, even if they did smell like fish after. No comment from the popcorn gallery on that one either! "What do you mean I'm using it for the wrong reasons?" Amusement glinted in those pale hues as she looked at him. It was then she rose and moved towards the bar. "I'll make you some tea." Since now she knew he cared little for whiskey, she'd at least give him some comfort and enjoyment in drink. "We've venison steaks, fried potatoes with onions, steamed beans and cherry pie on tonight’s menu if you find yourself hungry." Stated as she moved to the small hearth maintained behind the bar, just for heating water, making coffee, and heating up spiced and mulled drinks.
Did she really want him to answer that? Sometimes it was difficult to tell with her. There weren’t many that could conceal the intentions but she held them well behind such arctic walls. He knew there was worse and he dared not invest time in decoding what potential mess could be living within the alleyways. “You’re not as naive as you claim, Kat.” He returned a rather wry smirk before watching her shift toward the bar. His sienna irises not lingering upon her for too long for his attention went back to the fireplace. Why did it still hold so much of his attention without the flame burning? “Thank you, " he replied with gratitude. He was not without his manners and there was still a particular etiquette he followed even amongst friends. “Just the tea will be more than fine.” He had consumed a meal before venturing toward Ekaterina's humble abode. The Tsol Raa still quite content with how his stomach felt and didn't see the need to overfill it. A glutton he was not. “Cricket is pretty crafty. She wears the name well. “It was said just loud enough for her to hear without him shifting in his position.
The kettle put on, and then a mug claimed along with a small sack used for storing the herbal tea mixture. The mixture of herbs being a blend of rose petals, lavender, along with a stout black tea. Something she bought from a little Gypsy that passed through several months ago. It held a good aroma, and a pleasing taste; at least to her. Next she dug out the small container in which honey was stored. "I've buried two would be husbands, and one that actually went through with the act. Looking over her shoulder at him. "As for life in general, it's taught me very well how cold and calculating it can be. Naivety had been lost long ago." Said with a slight shrug of shoulders. "Not to mention the loss of an unborn child." It was the only scar upon her body she didn't wear as a badge, only a memory of something she knew she'd never have again. A light chuckle at his comment about Cricket. "I will forward, keep your coin pouch tied tight around that one. She tends to have sticky fingers and loves things that are shiny." Teasingly stated. "A formable one she can be, I've fought at her side." Turning to look towards him as she awaited the water to boil. "She and I go back about nearly as far as you and I do. We met through mutual acquaintances. In fact, it was the man who originally owned this place. It was upon his disappearance that I took over claim of ownership."
That almost came out of nowhere. He didn't realize what sort of response he was going to get and when it was delivered there was a light narrowing of his eyes. However, she'd have not known given the way he was facing. “They say love is supposed to be everlasting. The words ' I do' to be eternal. The hearts of some men are deceitful. Greed corrupts them and when they get what they want they become someone entirely different. “He tilted his head back but maintained a focus on the imaginary fire.” Years ago I'd not be able to see you with child. I think the thought then would have killed you. But, thinking about what you loss... You're not after sympathy. You're only making a point. We can blame our choices on karma and fate. Destiny, even. Though, sometimes I wonder if they aren't too unforgiving at times. “Osiris words become colder. Not in the sense of feeling but only in the depth from which the chilled air derived from. It left him to think and then their conversation became lighter. He tilted his head to the side so that'd she see the light hazels coming to find her “Rogues are a double edged sword. They can be your best friend... or your worst nightmare. I'd never trust her to do my finances. “He said that with a casual jest. The history she revealed shifted through his cerebral faculties. “Small world, " he said rather simply. Osiris canted his head further to regard her better. “What is that you want most from life, Kat?” A woman who didn't want surely had some sort of direction she wanted to go, right? Valhalla was in her afterlife. But, there was time to fill before she got there.
The water began to boil, and the kettle was pulled from the fire and poured into the awaiting mug. Two sthingys of honey added and mixed well before she'd turn with it in hand and walk back over to him and set it on the table at his side. "If the loss was to infidelity that would be one thing. One died because he murdered my father, the second upon a field of battle before we could wed. The one to which I did follow through with the actions, I was blackmailed into doing so in the beginning...” Stated as she moved to reclaim her seat. ".. Then I did begin to care slightly, especially when I found I was with child. He was lost at sea, and there were those who thought because he was gone, I'd be vulnerable. They sieged an attack upon me when I left my home. Not a life was spared, especially after they drove a dagger into my belly. I was seven full moons along." When she spoke of it, her voice was calm and devoid of emotion. The glass was refilled of the whiskey and taken in hand, though not drank. "Fate likes to play havoc with our lives, and I'm sure that's the penalty I pay for the life I chose to live." Slight shrug of shoulders in an uncaring manner. "As for what I want most in life? That's simple. A roof over my head, food to fill my belly, warm clothing on my back, and plenty of game to hunt." Be it two legged or four, she didn't really put a difference between the two. "Anything else is just a bonus to which I don't expect or seek."
The tea was before him and he eased forward so that his hand could wrap around the glass. Once more the symphony of her chords enraptured his senses and he listened. He wasn't looking for anything from Ekaterina but only to really check on her. Life was a cruel teacher and it wasn't near as kind as Osiris was. She has suffered through a lot in her time of existence. Perhaps more than any one mortal should. Though, he could not help but believe others had suffered much worse fates. The difference was she was still fighting and despite it all she was still very strong. It was admirable from Osiris's stand point. Not often did he take interest in the affairs of mortals but Ekaterina wasn't just some mortal either. She was someone he held close even if he didn't voice it. She knew. She had to of. The wants were simple. No more prioritized than anyone with a decent head on their shoulders. “I don't think it is so much a penalty as it is bad luck. There is no Favoritism in the acts we commit. “It didn't take long for the tea she had warmed to become almost iced over in his hand. The surface of the liquid nearly mimicking an ice-topped pond. Yes, he raised it to his lips and there was just enough of a break for him to consume a small portion. Upon lowering it he focused upon her once more. “What we do in life... echoes in eternity.” Everything else was just a bonus. He merely smiled at the statement and lifted his glass in her favor. “As a bonus I toast to you to a life of hardships, chaos, and a touch of madness. May death claim us before insanity. " He chuckled and then took another sip from the near frozen cup.
Head tilted slightly as she listened, focus for the moment was upon the dark coldness of the hearth. The humidity still clung to the air, even though the heat of the day had begun to ebb with the falling of night. She just couldn't bring herself to light a fire in the massive hearth just yet. "I believe we make our own luck." Stated as pale hues shifted to settle upon him. "However, fate and individuals can toss obstacles in our way, and it's how we react to such that determines what happens next. Some things are meant to be, whilst others aren't." Yes, she had given up on the ideas of family life, but she believed it was for the best, due to her chosen way of life. "Ja, I understand actions of today help to shape the tomorrows. People like me, and you, have a way of putting dead ends to some paths, and redirecting others." It wasn't just her heart that was dark, so was her soul and her outlook on life. A bit of a grin to his toast, and she'd raise her glass to lightly touch against the side of his mug. "Who says we're sane?" Teasingly stated before the glass was drawn back and a swig of the whiskey taken.
Osiris didn't expect her to fire up anything. This was her place and he was quite used to the chill that rolled through his body. She began to share her perspective and considered her words. He began to pick it apart to further understand where she was coming from. " True, to a degree. " He stared at the contents in his mug. " But, life also has a way of throwing our lives into a completely different direction when we least expect it. " Eyes lifted toward her own. " I'm sure you didn't anticipate on bearing a child when you knew you were with child, did you? " Using the instance as an example. " It purposely lets you think you've got it figured out before yanking on the reins and driving you down a different road. " It followed along to her next statement about their paths through life. " We're just stubborn like that. " The addition of his smile concreted the statement. " But, where you and I differ in that regards is that I don't close myself off to the prospect of potential. " It was his turn to check the room before looking back to her. " I never chose to be reconstructed by the Aspect of Time. In fact, I had opted to die beside my wife and daughter at that time. But, it didn't give me the option. It made me jaded for the longest time. Why did everyone else go and why did I get chosen? " Frost had accumulated beneath the leather boots he wore and even some along the edge of the glass. " Did I deserve that punishment? Then, I look at what I've done over the years. The people I have met and the accomplishments achieved. I wouldn't be here sitting across from you. " A plain smile. " So, what sort of penalty is that? " It could drive someone nuts thinking about it. " We are sane in here. Who says everyone out there is right? " His smirk became more relaxed.
"You're thick headed, I'm stubborn." Teasingly stated with a smirk as she glanced over at him, and even chuckled after. "Yes, your correct on that statement." In reference to how life slapped one in the face. A brow rose to his comment about potential. "I don't close myself off to anything Osiris. I haven't given up on life, I've just learned to live with what life hands to me. If you don't have expectations, then there are no let downs." Simple as it seemed. "It's not like I don't take risks, I take plenty of those, but it's for other people." Such was her life, due to the trade she lived by. It was then she grinned at his punishment questions. "You must have done something really, really bad, to be stuck here with me." Teasingly stated accompanied by a playful wink. The last had her chuckling. "I have to agree with you on that one. This answers my question of sanity completely."
As much as he wanted to let her comment go he couldn't resist. " Looks like you aren’t the only one without any secrets left. " He laughed and turned to his nearly frozen glass. A moment of concentration had inspired a light flame against his hand to heat the liquid so that he could continue to enjoy it's consumption. " I didn't intend it to sound like you have. Though, I tend to agree with about the bit of expectations. Unfortunately, I set the standard too high. " The mug raised and his mouth pressed against the edge for a sip. Almond optics focused upon her as he did so. " I did do something bad. " He had this amused smirk. " I didn't hide good enough. " He nodded when the sanity case emerged. " Indeed. Think about it. " What was Osiris doing? " Everyone you used to know comes back today of all days. Can this really be reality? Or, is it all some dream? " Osiris locked those dangerous hues onto hers. " Am I sitting across from you? Or, did you imagine that as well?" He nodded to her glass of whiskey. " What is my next move, Ekaterina? "
A chuckle at the secret comment as she gave him a side-long look. "Mmhmm." Her only comment. Then an outright laugh to his hiding comment. "It wasn't like I found you ... you found me." Said with a grin and raised brow. It was his last statement and question that had her now looking at him in full. "I know why Cricket came, it was due to business, as it usually is between she and I. She seeks me out when she needs certain tasks tended to." It had been awhile since she seen the woman, but not as long ago as it was when she seen him. "Now, for you? If it wasn't for the fact she took note of you too, I could believe it to be one of your infamous illusions. But I have felt your touch, and she's acknowledged your existence too. So I know this is a reality, and that I'm not in my bed, at my manor, sound asleep." Deductive reasoning on her part. "As for your next move? I can only suspect you're going to do something that's going to make me want to punch you in the nose again?" Said with a smirk and teasing tone.
Something’s never changed! " Was a bit unfortunate on my part, huh? " He laughed with her and then she began to dissect his statements. It wasn't so much for a game as it was to see how much she actually did see. Cricket was her crutch to start with. Using the physical idea that because she was present and acknowledged him that he too, was in fact, real. Then, she even emphasized his touch and he sat back nodding lightly. But, when she called out the answer to his final question he started to laugh hard. Osiris finished off his mug of tea and upon standing he sat it lightly upon the table. Even then the base of the mug caused a small ring of frost to emerge onto the table. She would find him in front of her. He lowered to where he rested more on the heels of his feet with his arms crossing across his knees much like an experienced tracker would. " I'm quite positive you still hold a bit of animosity for those tragic evenings. And, you're right. This isn't one of my illustrious illusions. " Osiris kept his focus attached to hers. " Fate has cost more times than I could ever count for. So, would it be worth it? " What was he getting at? He looked away from her before standing straight once more. " Maybe one day I'll kiss you where it counts. " He smiled softly. "Just as a bonus... " He was making his way toward the stairs with his sword in hand when he stopped. He needed the key.
Now that did cause her to chuckle softly. "It was only those humiliating parts, when you had me believe I was naked before everyone’s eyes." Head tilted. "Surely you can understand how that might feel." A brow rose with his comment about a kiss. "Kiss me where it counts?" Now that one threw her off and puzzled her a bit. "And exactly where does one kiss another to where it counts?" It wasn't naivety, she was trying to understand the comment. Then when he rose and began heading towards the stairs. "Would you like a key?" Stated with a smirk and amused tone. "Or was the idea of kissing me too much for your mind?" Oh yeah, she'd tease him about it, even if she was unsure what he meant. It was then she rose from her seat and made way behind the bar to pull out a tin box. It was opened, and from it she'd retrieve the appropriate key. Closing the box and putting it back beneath the bar, she'd walk over to him and hold it out for him to take. "I'll be up here shortly with some wood for your fire. Radulfr will see the bins are filled on the marrow to get you through the day and night if you need it."
Did this go the way he wanted it to or was it a piece that he didn't anticipate to happen? The wolfish smirk that crept upon his visage at that time might have indicated to which. Though, the blonde vixen turned it around on him and he only continued to stand there with such a misreading smirk. Patiently, he awaited for her to retrieve the key and when she held it out he relieved her hand of its weight. He turned to face her and he was quiet for a moment. Offering an appreciative nod in regards to the wood. Osiris's gaze dancing between her eyes and it was like had finally decided to go through with it. She was probably going to kill him in his sleep or at the very least bust his nose but he couldn't bring himself to tell himself to pass by. What did he do? He kissed her. It wasn't anything lingering but those arctic lips found hers for only a brief second. Being Nordic she'd be used to the cold but the feeling from him was d**n near hypothermic. The veins around her lips probably felt like icicles were prickling. As mentioned it was brief and upon leaning back he canted his jaw for her to get a good crack at it. " Your suspicion was also correct. " Wait for it! Wait for it!
Oh, he was going to get it alright, but not in the way he expected. A slow blink when he moved to briefly touch his lips to her own. When he drew back, her hand rose to touch her own lips and the lingering feeling his had left. "Not exactly as I had dreamt it to be, so many years ago." It'd be a hit on the chin, but not physically so. Hand lowered and a hint of a smile. "If only you knew how many nights I wondered how that would feel." How’s that for throwing a curve ball his way? "Maybe the next time you chose to do so, it'll be more like what I had imagined. Now a hint of a smirk to touch her lips. "I know you can do better than that!" A wink directed his way and she'd slowly turn and begin to walk away. She had firewood she needed to retrieve from the shed outdoors for his hearths.
His face was still intact? What he had been waiting for was to be seeing stars, his knees to be buckled, and maybe even a slit throat! None of these occurred and upon lowering his chin he was able to see her touch her own lips. It was very clear she had thrown him off. She had dreamed about it? Wondered about it? He was almost dumbfounded because he thought it would have been one sided. She was smirking and turning away. A look to the left and Osiris then understood. After admissions like that he couldn't disappoint the woman, could he? She was heading toward the door. He would wait till she opened it and Osiris would be gone. That man's image coming right for her before both hands wrapped around her lower back. The arctic release of his mouth slamming against her own with an unnatural heat. Osiris's hands were ice cold but that second try was far from it. It displayed not a want but a need. Fervency from deep within. He listened specifically to her heart. How fast it beat because he didn't want to pull away until he absolutely had to. A price he paid for this change was the snowy element of his tactility. Though, with the intensity of the fiery delivery he had the potential to melt glaciers. Breathing hard because of the nerves that rattled him. Chest thumping from the excitement. Fingers becoming firm from the desire. He had laid siege upon her mouth and he wasn't taking any prisoners. Not until he felt life beginning to diminish and even then he hesitated to pull away.
He caught her off guard the first time, and because it was but a peck, she really didn't take the kiss seriously. She hadn't lied either about how she felt about him in the days of old, but she felt it was only one sided then. A teenage crush a few had told her when she confided in them, and warned her to keep it mute or lose his respect; so she did. Suddenly she felt herself being drawn into his hold, and she was literally taken by surprise. She really didn't expect him to try again, especially so soon. In just a beat of her heart, was the shock and surprise to last, for soon she realized what was happening and he'd find her arms to rise and encircle his neck. The kiss was being returned in a like manner. Fire and ice, not the best of combinations, but at the moment that's exactly how it felt. Inside was a raging inferno, with her pounding heart and blood a boil. Outwardly his touch was taking its toll, and it wasn't the moment that caused her to begin to chill within, for the feelings of old had awoken with a fury. It was the reaction to his touch that had her heart beginning to slow in its beat, her breaths to become more shallow and slow, when she was able to catch it. Soon he'd feel her begin to grow slack in her hold upon him, and her body against his. Yet she didn't stop sharing that kiss, not until he would pull away, and even then, she'd still be slack in form within his hold. When he did draw back, slowly did eyes open as she gazed up at him with a dazed expression. Perhaps it was the hypothermia, or the fact that what she once considered a dream had come true; even if a decade later.
This entire situation was nothing that he had anticipated at all. In the days of old he had fathomed a few times about what could have been and what could be. It wasn't even a situation of age or distance. It would have become a problem in command and it was his only reason why he didn't share such with her then. Favoritism could have changed the entire fate. Osiris felt her own pull and even melted to the way her arms draped around his neck. Secrets unfolding in the way of their mouths at war. He felt her heart rage within and his own felt like it was about to explode from his chest. Upon the release he looked very deeply into her eyes and he swallowed hard. Savoring the taste of her saliva and the feeling of her lips having beat against his. He wasn't sure what to say or even what to do at that moment. Osiris wanted to pull her in against him again but he knew the consequences. His hand lifted to his mouth as if to see if he was the one an illusion. " I... uh... " He couldn't find the words and he felt the butterflies arise within his stomach. " If I had only known.., " came the low octave from the depths of his chest. He was on cloud nine. Throat was cleared and he looked to the ground for a second. " I'm going to head up a while. " Talk about a wild fog in his head. He felt like his entire body was on fire in that moment and it was just a feeling so surreal to him. His hand did rise to caress the left side of her delicate features before he passed by her. Osiris's touch fading on his way toward the stairs.
It took her mind a moment to recover, and a succession of blinks as she returned to the here and now. It was more the daze lifted from those icy blues that stared back into those dark depths of his own. She knew not how long they stood mute in that position. Then he spoke, and it took a moment for his words to actually reach her brain. She was numb, but not from the cold, it was due to the situation. Had they not spoke about how life likes to throw things at you? The unexpected? This was definitely that! Lips parted as if to respond to his comment of knowing, but then closed as she thought that now wasn't the time, or the place in the open doorway of the Inne. Softly she'd clear her throat as well, and a glance back to the interior of the Inne, then out the door she had been intending to step through when halted. "Umm ... Ja ... I'll be along shortly with the wood for your fires. I'm going to check on the horses first." This wasn’t intended upon until that moment. She needed to clear her head, make sense of what happened, or what was happening. It was then she'd look over at him as she paused, it was then she smiled. "For the record ... it was more than what I dreamed." Quietly stated and then she was walking past him, and heading off into the darkness towards the stables.
What just happened? That had been worse than a train wreck! No matter how much they knew they shouldn't they did it anyway! Again, he was thick headed and she was stubborn. It was rather ironic how their talk earlier on the evening had come to pass. Osiris was mentally strong and even he was having issues making sense of it all. What had possessed him? Why didn't she knock his teeth out? She had stolen his breath away and he liked it. It was obvious to himself at least. She was going to check on the horses. Good call. It was more than what I dreamed, he felt prideful. Confident with such admittance from her. He wanted to say something but he had not the oxygen to do so. The Tsol Raa was still attempting to pull his head out of the sky and back to ground zero. Osiris stepped through the door of the Inne and turned to look over his shoulder to see her vanish into the shadows. An awe-struck smile hit his worn features before making his way inside. He was quiet on his way across the main floor and he stopped again as he reached the steps. " If this is a dream I don't ever want to wake. " Then, he proceeded upward and toward his room. All this time and they only thought it was themselves. He felt like kicking himself in the ass! Right in front of his face the entire time and he had been too blind to see it. Life had a funny way of mocking him.
After she blended with the shadows, she'd turn to look back at the Inne. She could see him lingering in the doorway, though she couldn't see his face as all were cast into shadows. She watched him until he turned and disappeared back within. She then turned and headed to the stables, as she had claimed, and she would stop long enough to check the food and water of the animals being kept there. It was then she'd exit, walking past the shed that held the seasoned wood, and headed to the small brook that ran behind the Inne several yards away. Against a tree she'd stand with her back pressed against it, eyes cast upon the flow of water, barely illuminated by the stars above. It was only now she'd actually capture her breath, and for a moment her heart thudded against her chest as she relived the moment. Head to rest back against the rough surface of bark and eyes would now be cast heavenward. How many nights had she truly spent thinking about that moment, and how it played out in her mind? Too many to count. She did her best to hide her thoughts, that she was told could be destructive, and evidentially she hid it well. In truth, she would have continued to do so, if not for his comment and the domino effect of actions to follow. "This better not be another of your cruel tricks." Nearly whispered heavenwards. Whom was she speaking with? The fates? Her Gods? Even she didn't know, but if someone was in control, she wanted them to know if this was one of their little games, she found no pleasure or humor in the taunt. A glance back to the Inne, then to the brook. It would take the better part of an hour before she'd return to the Inne to tend to her task, of collecting the wood and taking it to his room.

Tonight was a lot cooler than previous nights, the tell-tale signs that autumn was closing in and eradicating the summer swelter. Though the days still held the heat as long as the sun reigned high in the sky. All the windows and doors were left open, to permit the coolness of the night breeze to air out the nearly empty establishment. The dinner rush having past, a few of the rooms that were rented were now vacant as the travelers that held them moved on. Radulfr was doing the final cleaning of the bar and a few tables, while she sat at its end, head bent over the ledger she was tending to. A tankard of mead sat near her left hand, half full, to be occasionally sipped as she dealt with the numbers. It wasn't a task she cared to tend to, but it had to be done, and Radcliff was busy tending to the books of all her other businesses, she could at least tend to one or two herself.
Osiris had left earlier that morning even before Ekaterina had awakened. The door had been left near frozen upon his departure but over the course of the day it had plenty of time to thaw out. It was much cooler this evening and the hunt for the Ledger of Rituals had concluded for now. There weren't any leads yet. Though, there was feeling that he couldn't shake. He felt it was near. However, tomorrow was another night. He moved like the shadows creeping and silent in his approach of the Inne. The temperature of the atmosphere must have dropped a good thirty degrees until his foot met with the stairs of the establishment. Patches of frost left behind him and dissolving rather quickly. The icy katana sheathed while he stood upon the porch for a moment. Forcefully, he generated heat so that he wouldn't ruin any of the wood within. A mind set concreted as he then stepped through to allow his dark gaze to drift around. They located Radulfr and a dip of his head was given. Afterwards, his quiet progression led him beside Ekaterina where he decided to stand. “No luck, " he said softly. That ever-present chill rolling from his lips.
Even though her focus seemed intent upon the ledger, peripheral was always in use to keep aware of her surroundings. Though before she seen his entry, she heard his footfalls upon the steps and porch as he approached. Then as they crossed the floor until she could literally feel his presence. Though she waited till he spoke, before icy shards of blue lifted from the pages to settle upon him. "There's always the marrow." Quietly stated in a means to sate the disappointment she could hear in his voice; even if it was slightly. "I'll make you some tea." Offered as the ledger was slowly closed and she'd slip from the stool upon which she sat. A bit of a smile and behind the bar her way was made to set to the task of preparing his brew, and refilling her tankard with more mead.
The aura generated by the Tsol Raa wasn't a very easy one to conceal. Each day that came to a close the tougher it was for him to maintain a stable temperature. Her spoken thoughts mimicked his own and he nodded lightly. “Yes, indeed.” The offer of tea had inspired those arctic lips to lift in a rather warm smile. Still, he thought she was too kind to him. This was rather ironic considering the blood-thirsty reputation she had outside of these walls. It was her smile that had sparked a bit more brightness despite it not being voiced. Bronze tints gave a glance to her ledger but it did not hold his attention for long. His destination was to the hearth as it had been many times before this. The elegant weapon was removed and several of the icicles that had accumulated had crumbled upon setting it against the wall. Then, the hood of the cloak was shifted back and he claimed the spot he had sought out for. “Has the day treated you well, Ekaterina?” He didn't look to her initially. Rather, his focus rested onto the fireless hearth. Both arms crossing over his knees as he leaned forward lightly. Onyx strands coursing down left side with a faint aroma of sandalwood falling in his wake. An essence that hadn't clung to him in years but a piece of history he couldn't quite let go of.
Soon she was making way to his chosen seat, though perhaps with a bit of a surprise for him. Not only did she come bearing a metal tankard of the rose mint tea sweetened with honey, but also a tinder box. The tinder box was usually used to warm beds during the cold of winter, however tonight it found a new purpose, to be utilized in helping to keep his tea warm; yes, she remembered what he did the night prior. Both would be set upon the table beside him, a bar cloth set down first so the box wouldn't mar the tables surface. "It's treated me quite well. The hunt was fruitful; I gained enough not only for the Inne, but to trade at market. And we managed to make it through the night without broken furniture or windows." Stated with a tone of amusement, that also glinted in those pale blue eyes that now rested upon him. "I have yet heard back from those I have in search, though I figure it'll take a few days before I do." Letting him know he wasn't the only one in search of the book. She'd then return to the bar to fetch her tankard of mead, before moving back to claim that other winged back chair that rested beside his, with only the small table separating the two.
It was quite a surprise in fact. Evidence of such coming to the emotional surface of his features while he regarded her. Yet, it was short-lived for it made way for the appreciative curve signifying his gratitude. Warm tea was such a delight anymore. He watched her place the cloth down and then his focus lifted to follow her. Osiris listened to the fruits of her labor and how she was even able to make enough for potential profit. The mention of not having broken furniture or windows had resulted in a light laugh with a brief nod to follow. “That is always a plus. I was never a fan of having to replace such. “The Entropy Tavern had suffered more than its fair share of breaks and bruises. Unlike Kat, however, he had the tools to replenish such items with a fair amount of ease. The conversation drifted to the book. “Of course. Difficulty seems to be the trend when hunting something that doesn't want to be found. How to lure it out is only a fraction of the puzzle. “A contemplative demeanor came and went. As she moved to fetch her mead; he had taken hold of his rose mint tea. It's warmth pressing against the cold embrace of his hand while a comforting grin came to stretch across his visage. “The simple things in life are often the most enjoyed. Though, some people tend to turn that opinion into exceptions." Was he referencing her? She was far from simple. The metal tankard then found rest against his lower lip before it was tilted. Again, the soothing warmth of the liquid was like a river of nirvana coursing down his throat. Afterwards, it was replaced upon the table. No since in letting become cold while he had the opportunity.
Sitting at an angle that made it better to view him as they conversed, one leg to drape over the arm in a position of comfort. "I had inquired about a Barbarian King, and learned of one whom use to rule in the North. Though little is known about him, or if he lives still. I was thinking about taking a hunting trip to the North and perhaps find out for myself. See if he still rules, if his kingdom still stands, and if not, if anything was left behind." It was the follow-up of that tid-bit of information he shared, so told by Tobias. Unsure of exactly how long ago it all transpired, it was a lead worth following up on. Then to his last comment she had to lightly chuckle. "Ja, the simple things in life are the most enjoyable, too bad life likes to make itself too complicated to enjoy it in full sometimes." He was right, she was far from simple, but that never stopped her from enjoying such things from time to time. Moments like this, to her, were the simple enjoyments life had to offer. Where she could sit in comfort, not constantly looking over her shoulder, or wondering if she stepped wrong, or if her timing was off. "Radulfr has filled the wood bins in your sitting room and bed chamber. The hearths have been ablaze all day, so a deep bed of coals reside in each, that should give you comfort." Tankard lifted to sip from after she spoke.
The immortal had found her approach to the book to be rather intriguing. He had not thought to look for the Barbarian King. Judging by his expression a whole new rush of questions had drifted through the gray matter. “Driven into madness if he still commands any sort of authority. You plan to go in search for an item that I've been seeking for centuries." He sighed lightly. “If you make such preparations plan for two." That was his way of saying he was going to go with her. He made the mistake years ago not traveling with his most trusted and everything seemed to have fallen apart because of it. The same mistake would not be repeated twice. Was the king still alive? He had to know now that Kat had brought it up. Both eyes were closed and slowly a crown began to formulate around his head. It was ethereal in appearance and it shimmered brightly from the low light from within the Inne. "Kralrik still breathes.” A tremor of his hand had erupted with both eyes awakening suddenly. For a split second both eyes were pure obsidian until the light chocolate haze reclaimed them. “I did not think such Kings inherited teachers of the magical arts.” It seemed like news to him considering how the northern folk acted in regards to magic. “You’re both far too good to me." He said softly in regards to keep him warm in the evening. He provided a glance to his tankard and then looked to her. There wasn't anything said and only quiet thoughts skipped across his mind. Why so many questions were left unanswered?
Head tilted slightly as she gazed upon him, tankard held idly between both hands, hovering at chest height of hold. "Even though it was Padfoot and I, we sought out the pieces to the staff. You found the key, even though those you sent to seek it let you down. You have two parts to your puzzle, and the third lies close albeit hidden from you. I found one of your items, perhaps I shall again." No promises were being made, and this wasn't being done because he commanded it this time. She was doing this because she wanted to, so he could make his choice; whichever it would be. "You helped me in many, many ways, Osiris. I'm forever thankful for that. I hold you in high regard, and that's not something that can be claimed by many, only a rare few. You're no longer my commander, but I view you as friend. As a friend, I'll help you in any way that I can, that's within my abilities.... “It was then she smirked.”...even if it’s only in the simple pleasures of life." Tankard on the rise to sip from as she thought over something he said. It then lowered and she slowly shook her head. "By a rule, those of my kind do not favor magic’s or those who wield them. However, as much as there is a dislike, we also know when there are times that necessity must quell distrusts and dislikes." Index finger of right hand began to lightly tap against the side of the mug. "On the day you arrived, I acquired two magical items. I was told they would be quite valuable to the one to which they originally belonged. The one item, I'm told, is said to transport one to a destination of choice. However, it's not an easy process as the story goes, and there is usually one left behind ... though I'm unsure if that's before leaving or upon ones return. I was then told, that the item will return to a glass bowl in the possession of the original owner." Pale blues met his darker gaze. "Now I don't care to use such items, but something like that could be most useful for someone in my line of work. But, I have to get that glass bowl in order to keep the item from being lost." A bit of a chuckle as focus shifted to the cold hearth. "I've yet decided if I'm going to seek this owner out and ransom his items to him, or to retrieve the glass bowl to possess it myself." A glance back over at him. "If the Barbarian King found a use for a user of magic, something to benefit him; I can see him viewing this individual the way I do the item I possess."
He had become consumed by thought but that didn't mean he wasn't listening. On the contrary, every single word touched his ears and became comprehended by the mind. She quickly had his full attention once again. Osiris lifted a covered hand so that the thumb and index finger could glide across his prominent jaw. “Perhaps, " he spoken lightly in regards to finding the book. The third and final piece of a puzzle that had tormented him for so many years. The reminder of him helping her had him lowering his eyes a Bit. “Eventually, you and I will run out of gratitude and just submit to the debts.” He said with an entertained smile. “Even your ledger has not enough pages.” He reclaimed his tankard and the warmth of his face lit up again. Oddly, it was no more different than a child on Christmas morning. While not so youthful the element of cheer stained his cheeks and even heated his eyes. Osiris listened to the more detailed description of the people akin to her born mentality. Focus traveled toward her tapping finger before lifting back to her eyes. The details of this magical item she had obtained had him expressing interest. Quietly, he pondered upon its origins, the original master, and where the glass bowl could be. Personally, he had not heard of such an item but on the same token Osiris was unfamiliar with a lot of elements of the world. One truly never stopped learning or experiencing. The follow of her plans had caused him to laugh." Ekaterina and an object of magic? I did corrupt you. “He even edged on a prideful smirk and further consumed his tea. The honey additive and the mint flavor combining to become quite a delicious drink. He may have just found a new favorite beverage. “Yes, and that makes this trek all the more dangerous.” Barbarians, Mages, and Kings, oh my. “I am going to take a much needed vacation when this is all said and done.” He shook his head a bit and lounged more comfortably. His back meeting the seat with both hands wrapped around the heated metal. Eyes fastened to her and that roguish grin to top it all off.
A light chuckle to his debt comment, and the rise of a brow. "Hmm, have you indebted to me? Now that could prove to be interesting." Stated in a teasing tone, followed by a playful wink. Sipping more of that mead as she continued to listen, and hidden was the smile that appeared upon seeing the delight on his face. The simple things in life, was the thought that crossed her mind, and the reactions it brings. His comment about corrupting her caused her to outright laugh when the tankard lowered. "JA, I have you to blame for tainting me." Teasingly stated. "It all began when you gave me those two suits of leather armor. That I still wear and use to this day." See, she was getting into his pants, although they were now her own. "If there's no risk, then something isn't worth having." Such was her belief. "Danger is to be expected, especially when it's to take something away from someone else." Head rested against the seats back, but the position upon which she sat still allowed her to gaze directly upon him. "Nothing in life comes easy, especially if it's something you want. You just have to take the risk to claim it and make it your own, even if there's consequences to pay in the end." A brow rose at his vacation comment. "Didn't you just have one that lasted nearly a decade?" Inquired in a teasing tone as that smirk played upon her lips.
It sounded completely different coming from the lips of that dark angel. “Just what you need, isn't it? Not an object of magic but a creature of unorthodox power at your disposal. I think your competition would deem such an unfair advantage. “He continued to smile and then he looked down to the tankard to check upon its status. The steam had begun to dissipate and it was his que to lean forward and sit it back down. His back soon found comfort against the spine of the chair. “Tainting you?” He offered an accusatorial narrow of the eyes. “You chose to wear them. Who is at fault? “Such light seemed to emerge from him. The arctic aura easing even more so at this point. “I can only admit to providing you with the opportunity.” See how he turned that around? He passed an affirming nod to her statement about risk and reward. Consequences. It was the unknown that toyed with Osiris's mind most. It all sounded good in theory. Everything looked sound on paper. However, it was always when the actual deed was committed when everything usually goes wrong. The question of what if. But, then something else had arisen within his mind. It tied in with the events of last night. “Then what are you waiting for, Ekaterina? What prevents you from taking the risk to claim what you want? To make it your own? “He did not go without hearing her final question but it took the attention from him and put her into the spotlight.
A soft scoffing sound. "Harrumph..." In response to his comment about tainting and the armor. "Yes, you tainted me! I was innocent and naive to the world." Trying to look forelorned, but the amused glint in those baby blues, and the partial smirk did belie the expression. "Besides, it was the only way I could truly claim to have gotten into your pants!" Not that she ever did, or ever would announce such a thing. But she was tossing it right back at him in a teasing and humorous manner. When he last seen her, she was but a teen, in the latter years of such, but still so much a child. Now, before him sat a woman, seasoned in her trade, and having seen as much spilled blood and death as the most seasoned warrior, for one who had never participated in a war. Head then tilted and a smile erased the smirks hold. "Ja, you taught me much Osiris, I will never rob you of that claim. I can honestly say that much of my success is the result of such...” Then the smirk returned. "... I just perfected it!" Cheshire grin to follow. It was his last comment that caused a bit of puzzlement. "Taking the risks to claim what?" Head tilted slightly. "Just exactly what should I be making my own, that I don't already have?"

Now he was the one carrying on full laughter and softly shaking his head. Wow, at the thoughts she had instilled within the mind of the phenom. So much for being forelorned! He stayed quiet, however, only because the trek of words could easily come back to put his foot in his mouth. “I wasn't aware that had been an aspiration of yours.” It was his turn to play the teasing card and he did so well. He grinned and then he passed a glance to his tankard. The years that had passed crossing his thoughts briefly before she stole his gaze once more. “I don't think you have.” At this moment the man's sly nature began to emerge like a wolf waiting in a fog-lit forest. His final question and her response merely brought a smile to his features. The wolf could come out to play another day. “If you're unaware by now, my dear. You're still a bit innocent and naive." Both arms stretched the length of the arms of the chair and he was lowered just lightly. His head canted faintly and only the right eye could see her from the veil of black that had drifted over the left side. “As the saying goes -- Time is an incredible teacher. It just happens to kill all of its pupils. "
To his comment about her aspirations, she'd just simply grin. "There are many things you know not about me, Osiris." Tankard lifted to finish off the mead, it was then her leg slid from the arm of the chair as she rose with a slow stretch of form. She'd move then to stand before him, leaning forward at the waist so her face was closer to his. "Oh, I've perfected a few things my dear. Perhaps not to your standards, but they work well for me." Quietly stated with a smile. It was then she'd snag his tankard before rising to stand in full once more. "I will admit I'm not savvy about all things in this world..." Stated as she made her way to the bar and behind it to refill both their tankards. Only this time hers would be tea as well, a want for the flavor and added benefit it offered her. "It is for mortals at least. Just when we get to an age of understanding, our life comes to an end." Moving back to stand before him as she handed him the refreshed tankard. "And sadly, those younger who are just beginning to learn listen not to those that are older and wiser. Because they already know it all, and they don't need anyone telling them what to do, or how to do it." It was then she grinned. "Then those young ones grow up and realize the depths of their mistakes. The sad part is, those elders they ignored, are now gone and they have to learn the hard way ... School of Hard Knocks."
There was no falsification within her saying. He knew so and it led him to maintain his smile. "... and perhaps I'll never know them all. But, I am patient and I've time to spare. “She was on the move and approaching him. Osiris moved not an inch from his spot and kept visual contact with her during her short travel. “It isn't to my standards perfection is met. Only obtaining through the will to achieve is it accomplished. “Kat was heading in the opposite direction with his tankard. He was on the receiving end of her melodious philosophy and Osiris continued to listen. He took the refilled tankard and allowed it's renewed heat to revitalize the coldness within his hands. "This sounds like the voice of experience.” He commented as he lifted his head to meet her gaze. His head canting lightly to slide those dark strands away from his eye to acknowledge her better. “It is how we learn those lessons that create not the what of who we are. But, rather the who of what we are. “Osiris stood at that time with his tankard in his hand. He was near her for she hadn't moved yet. “If those elders did have a choice in remaining. There would always be a phrase that rang common amongst them. “There was a humoring flash of a smile, “I told you so.” It would have been inevitable forever teacher to recall to their pupil the choices they dictated. "Unfortunately, I've not had that honor nor would I vocally express such" What did he mean? “I just couldn't give you that satisfaction now could I?” Another swallow of his tea and he watched her intently. “But, I do have one confession before I retire for the evening.” There could have been a thousand and one things he could have said at that given moment. "The feeling of your lips against my own... it felt perfect.” He'd leave her with that before he started for the stair case.
She just looked at him and rolled her eyes, when he spoke of the accomplishment. "Ja, so you've told me a hundred times. However, you were a perfectionist on how things were to be done, don't deny it!" Head tilted and grin grew, yes she was only teasing again, but there was truth in those words too. "As you said, life itself is the grandest of mentors." In response to the voice of experience comment. His I told you so comment then caused her to outright laugh with a slow shake of her head, then a grin to follow. "No, you wouldn't say that. You wouldn't have to; it could be read in your eyes, the expression upon your face, and the set of your lips." Just as she was about to return to her chair, he rose from his and stood before her. Head tilted with a slight lift of chin to enable her to gaze up into his eyes. "A confession?" Now that did give her reason to pause. It was the words that followed that had her just staring up at him, then to follow him as he moved to walk away. Turning as he moved to face towards him. "As I told you last night, it was better than what I dreamed. Though I never truly thought it would happen, not after what I was told."
It was her footfalls this time that had caused the Tsol Raa to stop. A light tilt of his head as if to hear them better. He never thought it would have happened either. However, life and it's curve balls were batting a thousand. Osiris turned to face her and there was the faintest hint of blue within that ring of whiskey. “We never can truly anticipate what lies before us until it happens. You miss a hundred percent of the shots we don't take. How does one reach for the stars when they aren't shining bright? “His hand lifted and for once it was warm as it pressed softly against the side of her precious facade. The thumb gliding gently. “We cannot change history. If we could I would have a thousand times over. Everything would be different but then I would not have been able to grow to greatly appreciate these incredible moments spent with you." He had such urges and he was fighting them all. It apparent in his eyes. “We are who we are, Kat." Osiris lowered his hand. The man's smile more calm than a spring rain. There was so much to say and so much to tell her. But, where did he even begin? How could he begin?
To that touch, again her head would tilt against his open palm in press. Eyes to close briefly, and a bit of surprise in feeling a semblance of warmth to his usually frigid touch. Slowly they opened as she gazed up at him, her eyes meeting his. "It's also possible that then it wasn't meant to be. It could have ended in failure, or worse, personal destruction." As if she was one to talk, she was the walking personification of personal distraction. Feeding on negativity, hate to where she'd become indifferent and distant. "Ja, we are whom we are. Creatures of our own creation through thought and action." A bit of a smile. "But, I'm no seer, and the future is not mine to know. I learn as it happens, so who knows what tomorrow may bring and the changes that could come." For a long moment she gazed up at him. "The hour grows late, and I've quite the distance to travel yet to reach home. I hope tomorrow is more fruitful in your search, or one of my people happen upon some information." She turned as if to walk away, but didn't yet move. "I've informed them they can speak to you, but not in an open manner. If I’m not around, you'll receive word by missive if there's anything learned." Turning to set the tankard of untouched mead upon a small table before she'd rise and look at him again. "This is for luck." A step closer she'd take, and she knew the risk, but her hands rose to rest upon each side of his face, a lift upon toes as she'd press a light kiss upon his lips.
Vagabond, rogue, monster, guardian, master, friend, redemption, salvation, destruction. The list was endless but the man was the same. The way she leaned into his touch had eased his spirit and it had motivated his smile to return. He knew that what she spoke of was pure fact. If they had acted back then would they be where they were now? Perhaps not. Creatures of their own creation. That segment echoing within his mind until he noticed her smile. The long moment was shared between them. Unmoving from his stance but the impression thick. “Yes... yes it does," a hint of disappointment that their departure was imminent. Tomorrow, he thought. A light nod when she told him about her contacts, their procedures, and the plan of action. “You have my deepest thanks, " he replied as she sat her tankard upon the small table. Eye to eye once more. This is for luck, she said. And, before he knew it he felt her hands against each side of his face. Lips pressed against his own and Osiris melted against her heat. His right hand had fallen around her waist to pull her close while the other managed to entangle themselves within her blonde tresses. The tantalizing flavor of her mouth and the ardent affection from her action couldn't allow Osiris to remain still. He returned her kiss not only with ardency but with a deeper passion than before. While the Siberian touch was still prevalent Osiris, once more, paid very close attention to her beating heart. There was even a moment where she'd find her back against the wall so that his precision osculation could be just as intense as what his heart throbbed for it to be. But, he could feel her growing colder by the second. How that fatal drop in temperature grew closer and Osiris forced himself to pull away. Irritation echoed across his facade because of the fact he had to. Upon looking at her, however, it was washing away and the softness of his smile had returned. “You’ve a long trek ahead of you. I shouldn't keep you. “He swallowed hard while he watched her reactions to distinguish how well her vitals were holding up.
When he pulled her near, hands slid so that her arms encircled his neck. Closing what little distance rested between them with a tight hold, which seemed to end all too soon. But she could feel the effects, and in a sense relished in the frigid nature, because it made it all the more real; something tangible. Upon her release, her body did tremble as it would if she stood out in the deep snow of a winter’s night. Pale eyes rose to meet his as she used the wall for added strength. "I have a confession of my own to make..." A near whisper of words. ".. I have a selfish intent in helping you to find this book ..." Hands rose to opposite arms and slowly moved up and down those biceps to cause friction of heat. ".. I'm in hopes you chose mortality once all pieces are joined." It took a moment to recover, but he had released her before even the lightest case of hypothermia could set in. "I wish you a restful sleep, and safe journey on the marrow, Osiris." A deep intake of breath as she stood from resting back against the wall. Turning to step away, then a pause as she looked back up at him. "I could always remain here too."
The feeling of just having her near was unimaginable to the mind. It was so overwhelming to him that feeling the brush of her voluptuous lips against his own thirsty borders brought a clouded judgment of selfish want. It was in these moments he cursed the cold, the immortality, and his duty. As her body began to tremble there was a desire to keep her warm. Optics locked onto her pale hues while she used the wall. A confession of her own? Upon hearing the man's face because much brighter. Though, he didn't voice his thoughts he figured she understood what that very smile meant. The actions she took to stay warm had not gone unnoticed. While he listened Osiris turned lightly so that he could unlatch his dark, shadowed cloak and he drew close to wrap her up within it. “I hear it gets cold at night within a certain few walls.” The tanned expanse of his flesh revealed with a long stretch of scars along either side. He wasn't much taller than she but one would have never guessed upon bundling her up. “Stay with me tonight.” It wasn't an order by any means. A request on his part. She'd come to understand why he wore that particular cloak. It's warmth undeniable and it felt as comfortable and as light as Egyptian silk. Yet, thick enough to divert a blade or three with the blackened scales inlaid through its fabric. Osiris began for the stairs but he offered his hand for her to take if she so desired.
Her reply came in a simple smile as she held that cloak tightly about her and relished in its warmth. Funny how many things can be communicated without the use of words. When he moved, she did as well, and accepted his hand when offered. In silence she'd climb the stairs at his side and make way to his room.
