It had been a long night and well Drake wanted a drink and some food. Not at the castle though. He'd been at the Inne for about twenty minutes or so at a table near the fire. The food was now gone and he was filling himself with mead. His sword lay beside him and the large man looked as if he was content for the time being. That could always change though.
Having already been out on the hunt, several stags, bores and some turkeys had been dropped off at the butchers. A want to relax, gain some warmth not only of flesh but of belly, would have her stopping by the Inne before heading back out. Leather encased hand pushed the door open briskly as she stepped in. White arctic wolf pelts comprised the heavy cloak adorned, the hood drawn back as she entered. Thick flaxen mane would spill free from within, to cascade over shoulders and drift about hips. Tiny braids of heritage encircled crown, intermixing with the loose silken strands. A mere glance towards the male with icy shards of crystalline blue when she entered. More in an assessing manner than one of piqued interest as she headed for her usual spot at the bars end. Here she'd lean as the fastenings of cloak were released. Not a word need be said, she was regular enough, that soon a tankard of honey mead would be set before her.
His back was to the wall as always... never to trust anyone from behind. In the middle of taking a drink he looked to see the woman come through the door. Eyes roamed over her then back to hers now finding them looking at him. A slight nod was given before they followed after her to the bar. Back to his mug he lifted it once again then took a drink. His eyes now focusing on the window watching the snow fall
Cloak shrugged off to expose the midnight hued leather adorned form. Glints would give hint to some of the hidden weapons, slight bulges to offer there were yet more. Preferring to stand, the stool sufficed as a resting place for her foot on its lower rung, elbows to rest atop the bar as the mug was captured and lifted to drink from. The male wasn't completely dismissed, he was still being observed, but only by use of peripheral vision. More because his face was Unfamiliar and a stranger was one to be a bit wary of. Not out of fear, it was purely distrust.
He was a guard and a very well trained one... he knew when she was looking to him. Eyes slid from the window to her with a large smirk on his face" If you wish to ask me a question My Lady by all means do so" he laughed some then brought the mug to his lips again taking a long pull from it. Waving the tender over for another
Slowly her head would turn as she gazed upon him openly. Icy shards of blue devoid of emotion, features stoic in nature. "What makes you think I have any questions for you?" Tone calm and cool, as cool as the Ice Queen herself. Eyes would take in his form, then to the sword that lay upon the floor at his side before lifting to settle upon his face again.
He laughed once again then took the new mug handed to him. “I said IF you wish to ask me something. Evidently you have none. By all means enjoy your drink" A smirk as he glanced over her form. The weapons were noticed and with that he gave a nod then looked back to the window all the while drinking
"Hmm...” More of a grunt than sound, attention would turn back to her tankard as it was lifted to take a deep drink of. When it lowered, a hint of a smirk touched lips. "If you are here to cause trouble, it will surely disheartened the staff here by having to clean your blood off the floor this early in the morning." Glance in his direction before she was looking back to that all important tankard.
He laughed hearing her eyes slid once again back to her" I am here for no such thing. I am a guard for Princess Margaret, who tends to the Queen. I have little use in fighting while enjoying myself. Don't worry your pretty little self. No reason for your feathers to get all flustered" Smiling he lifted his drink again to his lips
Smirk to grow slightly more. "I said IF you were here for such, not that you were. Just offering some friendly advice is all." Tankard rose again to finish off the contents, then a motion of hand to have it refilled. "Ah, one of the pampered lot." Stated with a brief chortle.
"Since you seem to be so interested in whom I am... why not give me a name to go with the one who is?" he shifted some in his seat while the drink was brought back up again then set down in front of him. He ignored her little comment for the time being
Turning so her back was now resting against the bar, the refilled tankard brought around to grasp in hand. Icy blues fixed upon him. "I'm known as the Hunter by those who know me not. And now I know you as the Guardian." Mug lifted In the form of a toast before it was brought to her lips to tilt and sip.
"Ahhh, so we will go by that then. By all means" He lifted his mug to her then took another drink. While he did his eyes roamed over her body more than once. A Hunter huh. ..Nice for more than one reason. Smiling he turned from her and looked back out the window watching as the morning crowd gathered out to do their things
Sounded good to her, formalities now put past. She was cordial with the man, so none could say she was being rude. At least for now. Tankard on the rise as she relaxed back against the bar, still utilizing that stool as a foot rest. Attention would be upon the fire, it was always interesting to watch.
His attention was drawn back to her again" Care to join me? I'd hate for someone known as the Hunter to drink alone." Yes he was being a smartass but the invite was very real.
"I'm not alone. You're here and so is the staff. I'm comfortable where I stand." Stated without looking away from the fire. Truth was, being too close to it would make her overly warm, and she'd be heading back out to the forest soon, not that she would divulge all that.
He couldn't help but laugh loudly both hands came together as he clapped. The smirk on his face grew" Very nicely done Hunter." Laughing again he took a hold of his mug and took another drink. The smirk still there he looked to her once more before glancing out the window again as more gathered. It was just in his nature to watch people
That caused attention to shift so now she was looking directly at him. "And just what did you mean by that, Guardian?" Inquired as mug was halfway lifted to drink, and then followed through with after words were spoken.
He didn't look away from the window as she asked the question. His eyes remained on the people outside walking by. Pretty much ignoring her now. The mug was brought to his lips again.
For a long moment she'd watch him, and then just as quickly he was dismissed. Turning to face the bar again after the mug was lifted to drain it of all contents. It would be set upon the bar, along with a water skin. The latter taken to fill with her favorite brew to take on the road with her
He knew she was staring at him. Which only caused him to smile while he continued to drink and stare out the window" Enjoy your hunt today." his eyes finally moved back to her
"I always do." No matter the prey, her thought alone. Water skin returned, and then coins offered for payment of the drinks consumed and the refill. Cloak taken in hand to be placed about her shoulders once more.
"I can see that. Was nice to meet you Hunter" he leaned back some then smiled again as he watched her. Large arms crossed over one another
Turning as she fastened her cloak, a smirk to appear upon her lips. "Nice was it?" More a rhetorical question than one she expected a response to. Soon she was crossing the room and making her way to the door. A Pause to glance back at him. "Don't get too soft from all the pampering, Guardian." Wink sent his way and she'd step out the door.
Brows arched as he listened to her and a laugh was sent her way before she left." Don’t worry about me at all" would be heard as she left. He went back to his drink though watched her through the window outside
Once outside she'd approach the massive equine she rode. Some found it strange that a simple Hunter rode upon the back of a massive war steed. With a grace of ease she'd swing upon its back and it would be rode in a half circle before she turned and gazed into the window he was looking out. A grin upon her lips, gloved hand rose to draw the hood up. Light touch to the ribs and soon the two were moving at a quick pace towards the road that lead to the forest.
