She had heard about the Gypsy woman who had set up in the market area. Vikings were a superstitious lot by nature, and to visit a seer wouldn't be considered uncommon. Or at least she hoped the woman was, most Gypsy she'd met in the past had the ability to do so. Adorned this night in the warmth of Arctic wolves white pelts that comprised the cloak adorned. Underneath was worn the usual midnight hued leather from edge of neck to tip of toe. Soon she arrived at the market place and it wouldn't be long before she spied the wagon in the distance. A pause as she stood there looking at it, then viewed the woman some had been talking about. Hands lifted to rub her eyes, surely she was seeing things. Slow would be those steps that carried her forward, more a mosey in motion as she neared. She couldn't believe her eyes, how long had it been? Not a word to be spoken as she stood a few feet from where the woman was, waiting to see if she was noticed and in turn recognized.
The tiny Rom was nearly dancing about as she tended to her wares. The day have been quite prosperous to say the least. A customer that spoke the intent of being a regular, and one that held position in the lands. The second, the woman glass maker, with whom she was beginning a business relationship that would expand the selling of her products made. This made the little Gypsy quite happy indeed, in the wake of all the turmoil recently left behind. Setting out some items to replace those sold, an upwards glance would have her freeze in position as those dark eyes befell upon the woman standing just a short distance away. She felt her heart freeze in her chest, suddenly she felt as if she couldn't breath. Was she here for her? Beginning to feel a bit lightheaded, she slowly staggered back until she felt the edge of the Vardo's stair against the back of her calves. Once she did, she'd sit down quickly, before she fell. It if was to be, she only prayed it would be a quick and merciful death.
Just the hint of a smirk would appear upon seeing the Gypsy's reaction to her presence. To say she didn't get enjoyment out of it would be an out right lie. Almost pr editorial were those movements in her approach, easing about the table the Romanian had set up with the items she sold. Now only a matter of a couple of feet separated them when she halted, arms lifting to cross over her chest. A slight shift of stance to now weight rested upon her left foot. "Well, well, just what do we have here?" Icy shards of crystalline blue fixed upon the small stature of the woman. She reminded her of a mouse cornered by a hungry cat. "It's been a long time Nadja, my how you've grown since I last seen you."
Obsidian depths rose to meet that gaze of the woman standing over her, then slowly lowered as her head slowly nodded. "Da, Doamna, it has indeed be the spans of many full moons." Came the natural softness of tone, words a heavy purr due to the thickness of her accent. "I see the passing is been kind to Tu, and the predictions?" A peek up at the woman whom she was more familiar with than she'd care to admit. In helping to save the woman's life so long ago, she learned some horrible secrets about her, and the woman knew it. She had also made a prediction as she sat by her side while healing, of her meeting a man and what the outcome would be.
Perhaps it was cruel she found it entertaining that she frightened the woman in such a way. Call it pride, or ego, or just her sadistic nature that she hid so well. "Ja, life has been kind to me, and it seems to have been for you as well." When she referred to the reading she had given to the Norse so many years ago, slowly a grin began to form. "Ah, yes, the man of my dreams. I was beginning to think you to be a Charlton, but you have been rectified of that in my mind." She was here to gain more insight from the small woman, and decided she had intimidated her enough. With this thought in mind she lowered to crouch on the ground beside her. "In fact, it's why I'm here right now. I didn't know it was you that had come here, Nadja, but I'm in want of more enlightenment if such is possible to give." A brow rose in question as those icy shards of blue fixed upon the frail looking fem.
That made her blink and peek up at her. "Al-Tu are nu here to end meu life?" Surprise may be the tone of her voice, but in her heart it was an major sigh of relief. She had kept the Viking woman's secrets as she promised, but also knew the woman would have no true way of knowing that. The fact she came to her for further guidance from the spirit world put the tiny Rom more at ease and any fear that showed outwardly, was now replaced by the gentle warmth of her smile. "I can try, as I've told Tu before, I control nu the spirits. If they wish to speak, they shall, I can't force them."
The Gypsy's question had her bark out with laughter, perhaps a bit harsh in it's sound, but it was one of amusement. Shaking her head and a grin formed once the laughter ceased. "No, that's not why I'm here .." It was then her grin would cease for a moment and a the seriousness of her words to follow would show in the expression held. ".. that is, as long as you keep your mouth shut about what you know. Your throat is safe from feeling the edge of my blade across it." Might as well be detailed enough to keep that fear alive in the small fem. Once it was said, her demeanor shifted to where she was grinning again. "Ja, I understand the workings of the spirits little one. If you have something to tell me, I know you will." She viewed the Gypsy as one that was honest and sincere, terms not usually used in association with her kind.
The sound of the Vikings laugh was about as unsettling as the tone and words that followed. A loud enough warning was given at that moment. She found no need to respond or try to defend her values to the woman, so she just nodded in agreement and left it at that. "Come, let us go into the Vardo for comfort and privacy." Legs had regained their strength once her fear passed, now she stood from her seat upon the bottom step to lead the larger woman into her humble abode. Pushing the door open, it would be left so in her wake for the Viking to enter after. The Vardo from the outside looked somewhat small in comparison to what the interior revealed. Inside was a bench like bed towards the front that opened to the bench seat sat upon for steering the wagon. A small table with two chairs set upon the left side, on the right were stacks of small kegs, chests, and burlap sacks that bulged with their contents. Upon the wall was a large shelf with small cubbyholes, in which parchments were sticking out of. These were various recipes shes collected over the years of her own creation or passed down to her from previous generations of Gypsy traveled with. There were also lists of herbs and all their uses. Looking back towards the door that lead outside the back of the Vardo, to the right, so the opening of the door split door wouldn't bump against it, was a cast iron pot belly stove, used to keep the interior warm and to brew her meals or water for steeping tea. The various scents of the herbs hung heavily in the air, to some it might be a bit overwhelming. She had gotten use to the smell long ago. Moving to the table, she'd light the single candle that sat upon it. It was then she collected two cups and the kettle before returning to the table and claim a seat. Glancing up, she'd motion to the chair before her in silent invitation for the Viking woman to sit.
This wouldn't be the first time she's entered through this door, though things had changed within from her last memory of what it looked like; perhaps a bit more organized? Or maybe there was just more stuff? It wasn't anything she considered important, so little attention was given to the details in full as she closed the door behind her before moving to claim the empty chair. Cloak removed and draped over it's back before settling upon it. Icy shards of blue then rose to fix upon the dark head woman before her. She didn't speak a word, she knew she didn't need to, now she would await instructions and what would follow.
Definitely more stuff, beyond the herbs she use to sell to her long ago, and the toxins created from the mixture of plants as she helped the Viking woman learn how to do it for herself.. A dark period of her life to be sure, but it had long since past. Just like she knew secrets about the Viking, the woman knew some of her own, in this they were equal. She'd prepare the two cups of tea, then set the kettle off to the side. Once this task was completed, she would reach for the small deck of cards that were resting against the wall on the side of the table. Removing the black veil that encased them, it would be spread out upon the table before her, she'd then hand the cards to the Viking. "Shuffle them until al-Tu heart tells Tu to stop." Instructed as the cards were handed off and dark eyes lifted to now fully settle upon the woman sitting across from her.
The cards accepted although she was a bit confused. Her last meeting with the seer, the Romanian had used runes to foresee. Silent she'd remain, taking the cards and doing as instructed. Slowly shuffling them until something told her it was time to stop. The cards would be offered back to the Gypsy with a slight arch of a brow. Now she'd await to see what was to be shared, if anything at all.
Taking the cards back, she'd set them upon the table between herself and Ekaterina. Slowly she'd begin to remove cards from the top of the deck and lay them face down upon the table before her. Eyes never left those of the Viking as this was done, a connection being made between the two. Once five cards rested before her, the gaze would be broken as she now looked upon the cards. The furthest to the left to be the first turned and this would be studied before she'd begin to interpret what she saw. A long moment of silence before the soft tone of voice would begin to speak. "It's a time for greater understanding and wisdom. The trials of life are heavy upon Tu. A sacrifice will have to be made in order to gain something of greater value. Tu must overcome al-Tu selfishness. Tap into al-Tu intuition, for it is there the truth will be found." With only but a long enough pause to turn the second card over, it too would be studied like the first before she'd begin to speak. "If Tu house a true heart, this is an indication of beginning of a new relationship, or the renewal of strong emotions. There will be joy and contentment. However, if Tu house a false heart, there is an indication of instability, loneliness and heartbreak. A relationship shall pass Tu by, and Tu will live al-Tu life in misery and being discontent." Here she'd pause for a moment to peer up at the Viking sitting across from her.
Icy shards of blue had been at first focused upon the Gypsy, that was until she began to turn the cards over and speak. She didn't understand where the Romanian was getting her information from. The cards seemed like small pieces of artwork, with the scenes depicted upon them. It was something she didn't understand, but then again, she's not a seer either. Silent she continued to remain as the Gypsy continued.
Slowly the third card was turned over and this studied much like the first two. Delicate features took on a mask of contemplation for a moment, then smoothed into that of a thoughtful nature as she began to speak. "Tu tend to be suspicious and over cautions. Tu place al-Tu-self so Tu sit in judgment. Al-Tu ideas are based on power, command, and the authority that comes from this... Have faith in truth and justice, but also open al-Tu heart to compassion and take mercy on those who are not as strong as Tu. Do not use al-Tu strength for cruelty, barbarity or perversity. For these are evil intentions, and in the end Tu will fall into the hands of one who is lawful and strategically intelligent." This caused her to glance up at the Viking, giving her a moment to allow the reading so far to sink in before continuing.
Now that caused a brow to rise and the touch of a smirk to appear upon lips. "Hmm..." Nothing more to be said as those crystalline blues rose to meet her dark gaze. She knew what the Gypsy was thinking, it didn't have to be said and it didn't take a mind reader either. The Romanian knew who and what she was, and as much as she detested that fact, it was what it was. The cards were looked to again, there were still two more to be turned over.
She didn't expound upon that reading, instead when the Kat lowered her eyes, so would she as the fourth card was now turned over and studied for a moment. "This card indicates a relationship with some sort of choice or trial involved that Tu must overcome. It is a card of attraction, and also love, but Tu must overcome the foolish designs in al-Tu mind of a relationship in order to move forward." It was then she moved to the fifth and final card, which was turned over and studied like it's predecessors. "Bewared of a ruthless character, one who is very clever, and unconcerned about the feelings of others. This is a deceitful person, one not to be trusted. This person has a more evil side to their qualities that is unforeseen and kept secret to those before them. This person awaits for those in an unprepared state, to unleash the sickness of their mind. This person is a rumor spreader and gossip monger. This person is one who continually speaks ill of others and of Tu as well when Tu are nu present. This person will use intimidation if necessary to achieve success and to claim what they think it rightfully theirs, even though it's not so." Slowly the cards would be collected and replaced with the rest of the pile. Obsidian depths to rise and gaze upon the Viking woman. "So say the spirits of the cards, Doamna. This is al-Tu present, near future, and future yet to come."
For a long moment she sat there in silence, absorbing the information that was given. In her mind, some had already come true, that being her meeting and the surprising relationship she had with Alex. A few other things hit hard to home, but she'd keep this information to herself. Hand moved to her side to remove a small pouch filled with coins and she'd place it upon the table between them. "For services rendered Nadja. As usual, this remains between us, not a word uttered to another soul." Slowly she'd rise from her chair as she stared at the small Romni. "You know the consequences for those who cross my path the wrong way." Had not the Gypsy seen that for herself? Cloak to be collected and a nod of her head. "Thank you!" The final words to be spoken as the cloak was placed about her shoulders and hood drawn up. The door reached and out it she'd step, the Gypsy woman gave her some food for thought.
Not a word did she speak as she watched Ekaterina rise and prepare to depart. The threat was unnecessary, since there was actually none to share such information with to begin with, and the fact she'd never divulge the secrets that she held. The Vikings wasn't the only dark secrets she had become privy to during a mind walk. "Multumesc." Hushed words of thanks when she collected the heavy purse of coins. She'd watch as Ekaterina left her small humbled home. Rising to latch the door before she'd turn to snuff out the candle. It was time for rest and upon the bed she'd lay, awaiting sleep to claim her.
The tiny Rom was nearly dancing about as she tended to her wares. The day have been quite prosperous to say the least.
