It would be after her interaction with Lord Valdus that she would ponder over their meeting for several days. Things were indeed learned, on both sides, and many questions left unanswered. One thing was certain, he was not easy to deal with.
Her father and Erik were those she had contended with in the past. Her father wrapped about her pinky, but that was due to a parents love of his only child.
The man, a Baron who's arrogance outweighted his common sense. His impatience, a man who wanted things when he desired them, not a moment less. His strengths? That was derived by his illusion of power due to wealth and title.
Was that not a mistake she made when facing Valdus? Did she not let the arrogance of her position cloud her thoughts and cause mistakes? Like an over compensating actress upon the stage of some pub in the slums, or even more believable .. the actions of an over pampered Nobleman's daughter. Mental beratement!
Things could have played out more smoothly, had she not been so awkward with her womanly wiles; not to mention his open intentions that struck upon two nerves. The first was that irritation .. the continued inuendos of words and actions. The second? That of a young woman who's yet to know the true touch of a man. The nerve that did cause a hinted hitch of breath, quickening of pulses' beat. Of course, this in turn would rub against the first nerve mention. It was a show of weakness, something she couldn't afford at the present.
She needed to be viewed as stringent, solid as a rock. A woman fully capable of handling the vast nature of the Estates left in her name. Exactly the spanse of that which rested within the control of her hand was still unclear. Records would need to be founded and gone over. Not just that of the Baron, but that of her parents as well. Not that it mattered to the woman beyond the fact of it's uses.
As had been pointed out to her, she more than likely had more enemies than allies, if any at all of the latter. This would mean gaining control over all the legal and financial aspects of her life. This would mean relinquishing the control many had at the present. A job that would indeed create enemies for her, and to the degree of it's reaches to intermix with the dark legions of the underground. The port had a vast network of such things as minor guilds creations for each fraction that operated below the laws of man and land.
A meeting had been arranged between herself and the Baron's Barrister. They would often say the lowest of humanity were the sewer rats that lived on the streets, feeding from cast-offs tossed into the streets. They would be viewed as Saints in her eyes, compared to the bottom feeder this man would prove to be.
Lude, shrude, and crude ... A short, sweet descriptive as to the personailty she met in the morning. Not to mention insulting and condensending. When she left the man's office, she was simply livid. Her own threats put forth, a meaning she would not simply lay down and roll over like some trained dog.
Little did she realize, exactly what she had set into motion....!!
Returning to the manor, back to the den and the mounds of paperwork that awaited her. Actions to transpire later that day would create a change, and perhaps a mending to actions of another time!
