He spied firelight through the dense forest path. Smiling he would begin to walk, bare feet pressing the moist leaf littered ground making absolutely no sound as he passed through the shadows and rogue beams of pale moon light. Making his way to the camp he thought a moment, he didn’t wish to scare the person so he spoke, his voice guttural and hoarse for he had not used it in a long time" Hello there at the fire, may I join you?” he asked as he stepped into the light, bathed in its orange glow. A man stood there six foot in height, gaunt as if nearly starved, lank black hair fell upon his shoulders, a long goatee covered his strong jaw, and his skin was a dark olive seeming as if burned by the shadows he loved. Swathed in not but ragged trousers, hung loosely upon his hips and a long leather coat. The man would seem wild, almost beast like, then came the pale gray hues, glittering with translucent green by the light of the fire...
A chill clung to the dampness of the air, aided in its movement by the light but constant breeze. Though not frigid as those of evenings not long ago passed, but in that transitional period as the heat of the day was growing as the beginnings of spring made it known. Partially clouded heaven filled with glowing entities of living light, studding the inky blackness which canopied outstretched fingers of barren branches of the usual thick foliage. Tiny bibulous formations studded the ends in preparation of the birth of life renewed as the season set into place. It would be in the midst of life’s transition, that the golden light of a sizable fire could be noted within its heart. To sensitive auditory, that which that which was the fuel of glowing warmth, could be heard as it was being slowly consumed. Flickering tongues that lapped about aged oaks, pines, and birch that had been gathered, causing the sap to boil, forcing its way through cracks and crevices created, with a loud snap or popping sound as it exploded from within. The scent to carry along with the breeze of not just the wood being consumed, but something other. Wintergreen, to be the scent if recognized. The road which traveled through the heart of the lands rested nary more than fifty feet to the east of the fire's placement. It would be here, the colorful Vardo sat motionless and empty Twenty feet to the north of fire and Vardo alike, would be the large Piebald grazing. It would be the approach that had midnight pools to rise from the dance of the flames to rest upon the man. Head tilted slightly in a curious poise, raven hair to dance with the motion as it brushed against shoulders with motion. "Buena Seara, Domnule.” Her hand would motion towards a large stone resting opposite her own position beside the fire. "Vreti, rest and seek warmth." Words softly spoken in a near purr of enunciation, due to the thick nature of the accent clinging to each syllable. Hand would again move to indicate the small kettle resting at the fire's side. "Help al tu self to food ..." Another indication of the steaming pot. "...and drink." He would find a wooden plate, mug and sthingy resting on a large stone between the two vessels.
He would bow his head a moment to the woman, ah yes he had smelled as such however would not speak of such things "thank you kindly my lady, but I am not hungry" Lie however the food in the pot and the drink in the other could not sait the hunger with in him. "I saw your fire from the path, it has been some time since I have found anyone out here in the wilderness.” he would make his way towards the other stone, lifting his coat slightly he would sit, although he was gaunt, his muscles were highly defined, for he had lived in the woods for most of his life, and twas a hard life indeed. Ah yes he had been rude, his name he had not given her his name....his name what was it again? he fought through his mind seeking this fleeing prey, Ahh "My name is Eldritch; I am a woods man of sorts.” a truth in a way. He then looked about the camp and the cloud covered sky. “what draws you out into these woods my lady? that is if you do not mind telling me. I am just surprised to see someone alone out here, tis dangerous at night...” how true this was, if she had came twenty years ealier she would have been his meal.
Head remained in that tilted position, features masque was that of curiosity although those abyssal depths were indeed studying him closely. A youthful innocent was the vision she presented to those whose glance she captured. Unless the eyes would be met and held, a different story would be told. His refusal of the meal was accepted with the gentle nature of her smile. "It's there for the taking, if the need does arise." Softly crooned to the man. Head would bow forward slightly and eyes to lower in that outward showing of respect. "Well met, Domnule Eldritch .... I am Nadja." Slowly those onyx pools would rise to gaze upon his. "Danger lurks in all places, Domnule. A populated city or the dense foliage of the forest, it resides in all." Smile would hint towards a smirk slightly. "I would rather take my chances with the wild creatures of the night, rather than so called men of society."
He smiled softly to her, his lips pressed firmly together. He then spoke softly to her "the dangers of the city, can be staved off sometimes and the chance to be protected by an armed guard is greater.” he would nod a moment remembering his manners "tis my pleasure Nadja." he then allowed his eyes to fall upon hers "the dangers that look in these woods are more then just simple beasts my lady, these woods are old and hold terrors just as old.” He then sighed softly, luck was hers however. For as they sat there he knew the creatures of which he spoke hunted nearby, and would stay far away from where ever his smell lingered. "But as luck sometimes has it, I have come across you. I know these woods better then most, and the creatures that haunt it do not bother me.” a half truth but he would not give to much, for as he looked at this woman this roma by the sound of her voice and language not to mention her clothing, seemed odd to him. Her scent was different somehow and it made him curious
Laughter would sound; soft and short lived to be replaced with her smile. "I doubt the guards would stand forth for one such as me, Domnule Eldritch. I would wager more on it being I to feel the steal grip of his hand upon Meu arm, dragging Meu in a most humiliating manner, through what ever mud hole he could along the way to city's boundaries." A hand would lift as if to wave off the thought with a slow shake of her head. "Nu, here I feel nu threats, only peace." Slowly her gaze would rise to meet his again. "I embrace that which surrounds Meu, Domnule. I feel at home in the depths of the shadows, encompassed by the Mother's cloak of darkness." The gentle nature of her smile would once again embrace natural mauve colored lips. "However, I do appreciate tu shield of protection tu offer from the unknown."
He looked at her with those pale grey eyes a moment gauging her. His tongue would lick the length of his thin lips a moment “You are not as you seem; you show no fear of me, even though I am a stranger. I come upon your camp in ragged clothing with no torch to light the way, yet you shown no fear. Perhaps it is foolish to hide the truth, for it seems my lady, that you do not fear the creatures of this wood. Because in fact you are like them in many ways?" once this was said he looked at her a moment, judging her reaction to this. He didn't fear anything, but her scent gave him nothing to go on, he could only smell that she was female and that spooked him. Gray eyes would pass over hers again as he stood up before the fire.
As he posed his observance and question, her smile would grow slightly more. "If tu meant Meu harm, Domnule Eldritch, it would have been enacted upon without a spoken word." Position would shift in her sitting upon the stone with legs drawn up before her chest, the heavy cotton cloth of blood red material of her skirt pulled to keep decency of legs and feet covered. Arms would wrap about her knees, drawing them close to her chest and her chin to settle atop of knees. As he rose, her eyes would follow his progression, never once did they release their hold of grey. "Predators have a way of sensing another, and also any threat they may pose. Just as tu sensed Meu nu as a threat, at least enough to approach Meu fire in a sociable manner." In a sense she answered his question, although there would be neither admittance nor denial to his suspicion.
He would look to her a moment and nod. "However my lady, you are mistaken. For of all the creatures out here, I am by far the worst. But as luck has it, I am free of my bonds so to speak and I have not spoken to another person in quite a long time. "he would gaze off into the woods a moment tilting his head, he could see a family of deer drawn by the fire, d**n so close but he didn't know about this woman. She spoke of predators; she could be just like him, or well something different. "It was not that I sensed no threat my lady, I am confident that none can threaten me." Boldly spoken and by the subtle movements of his body, easily backed up. “But I am not one to brag, nor am I one to linger on a subject, I will take it as it is, you are a fellow predator, something strong enough not to worry about the creatures of these woods, it would mean simply your a were creature of some sort or a vampire. "he would then look fully onto her" besides that, you have a wild beauty that is not found in normal mortals."
His comment of bonds was enough for her to understand him a bit more. She knew well of those invisible chains utilized to keep a raging beast within at bay. Simple understanding to touch within those bottomless depths which continued to meet those of grey. "Ahh, Domnule Eldritch, such thoughts could eventually be tu end. All in nature has one that's their better, tu have just yet to meet al tu own." A hint of teasing in that soft spoken voice. Was the tiny Rom insane? Or did she posses a pair of those metaphorical brass balls? It could however be the depth of insight of which she spoke. A visionary in her own right, although the man knew not of this ability of her's. Perhaps in time if such was permitted. Never once did that smile's warmth waver, if anything a glimmer of amusement touched those abyssal depths briefly. "Da, I guess it would." Head tilted slightly to one side in that curious nature. "And if this is so, be it either one, does this pose a problem?" Left sculptured brow would rise slightly.
He smiled a moment and looked over to her, moving slowly till he was just before her, he would squat. "Tis no problem, you are too small to make much of a meal; besides I am free of that constant hunger.” he would reach out and brush her cheek softly with the back of his hand.” Besides I find you interesting. But I must bid you farewell. I have just woken from hibernation and need to replenish body mass.” he then leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her lips, the first kiss he had in nearly three thousand years. “I shall keep your camp safe while I hunt.” with that he would rise from before her and stalk off into the shadows, only moments later were sounds so horrid that discribing them would make one sick would be heard, and a roar of something purely beast, then silence befell the forest and all was at peace...for now
His movements were followed with her eyes as she maintained that position of comfort. Smile to grow slightly more with is words, and any response she might have offered, would be muted with the press of his lips to her's. It would surprise her, his actions. A slow blink as she followed his procession back into the forest depths. Long after he disappeared within the cloak of darkness, and after the sounds of roaring had ceased and silence returned, she would gaze in that direction. There was something about the man, unsure as to what; it would cause the small hairs on the back of her neck to rise in warning. Caution was the sound whispered in the winds as the voices of the unseen set forth their warning. However, she knew in that unbeating heart, that he would be back.
