::The tendress had returned just in time for him to raise the mug in salute to Flynn.:: Ah, a pleasure mate. ::He paused.:: Jack Flynn.. tha' soundin' a slight bit familiar, perhaps I 'ave 'eard one o' ye tales in th'past.. bu' I 'ave 'eard many names over th'years. ::He made way over to the table, kicking out a chair and plopping down.:: An' m'mind never been completely right, so there be no tellin'. ::He laughed and took a hefty drink of the scotch, belching loudly before he grinned wildly.:: Pardon, gents. ::He winked at JD then laughed.::
Focus turned back upon Jack and that smirk grew even more. "Iffen shae ended up in mae 'ands Captain Flynn, I bae a promisin' yae bae a nae seein' it." Wink directed his way, the glass lifted to finish off it's contents.as attention turned upon Dunlap with his little Gentleman comment, that smirk only grew. "Ai, I bae t'agreein' wit' yae Captain Dunlap, yae nae be right in dae 'ead." Chuckling as that bottle of whiskey was snagged to refill that now empty glass.
::Eyes drifted to the door as it opened, his head nodding to the woman as she moved to the bar, his attention not being held for long as he began to think about other things.. his scotch! He took another swig of it and leaned his chair back, loving that short period of silence after a new face enters the establishment.::
The Irishman rose quietly, "Cap'ns, I dae be ahavin' ta head out. Gae night ta ye both, an' may he 'ave a full 'old o' swag."
Partial salute directed towards Jack. "Stiff wind n'yae sails Capt'n." As one hand lowered, the other would rise as a drink of that whiskey was taken. Only a glance spared in the direction of the woman and soon after, like Black Dogg, that drink held the swashbucklers full attention.
Long strides from the tall bounty hunter took him down the narrow alleys between the buildings until finding his way to the dockside tavern. He wasn't alone in his evening wanders, behind him paced a four legged companion. Oh, and some other two legged straggler trying to keep up with the man's quick stride. Leopold managed to keep ahead of the crewman, flicking his tail on occasion and slapping the younger man in the face. His head held high with arrogance, the Andalusian clip clopped behind his master towards their destination. He had visions of apples in his head, bright red juicy ones.
If there was ever a person who wanted to put a bullet in a horse it would have to be Joel. He had been couped up on the lower decks cleaning animal manure, namely the arrogant sod of a horse in front of him. With each whip of the horse's tail, the young lad wrinkled his nose and snuffed and then tried to move ahead of the animal only to have the beast move in front of him each time. "I honestly do not see why you need him here, Mr. Sommes. " With a frown the young man muttered lowly, "Some thou holier than thou dumb beast."
A bit more of a stretch and that chair would tilt back on two legs. Any business discussion she had intended with Dunlap would now be postponed. At least until a time when strangers were not in their midst. The dock area was filled with ships that happened upon the grouping of Islands. Some unsuspecting of the area in which they had unfortunately sailed.
Raine shot a grin over his shoulder at young Joel. "I wouldn't insult him within hearing distance, friend. He tends to take it personally." Which Joel only too soon discovered as Leopold trotted himself right in front of the young man with his rearend in his face and came to a sudden stop. Raine's fingers were almost yanked from the reins as the abstinent beast took on airs. "Now you've done it." He muttered and gave the creatue one of those menacing looks. Another tug and the trio was moving again and rounding the corner of the tavern building. "Behave, or no apples." He warned with a wag of his finger, tying off the reins onto a hitching post. He shot a glance to the other man and smirked. "Might what to clean your face off before we head on in for a bit of refreshment." Steel blue eyes flashed in laughter though he said nothing of the others misfortune.
The poor lad did not see what was coming to him until his nose got a good whiff of a rather interesting smell. "Chit! You dumb animal!" Joel pulled back and rubbed his face and nose, wondering if that horse left any surprises for him. Even if he was aware of the horse's intelligence of even arrogance, the "mouse" of the crew continued to dig his own grave which seemed much like his expertise. "Find me a cork big enough to plug up that hole of yours, how do you like that?" Though to others besides Raine, Leopold, and Joel it would seem that the youth was insulting Raine; but in truth he was adding another knotch on his "insert foot into mouth here" list.
The bounty hunter only shook his head as he climbed the steps to head inside. Let him dig his own grave. Leopold had the memory of an elephant and wouldn't forget. As Joel moved past the horse, the Andalusian made a (raspberry) neighing sound behind his back. The door to the tavern swung inward, entering the tall man with dirty blonde hair worn in an untidy mess. Steel blues danced across the interior with a hint of mischief in his gaze. After checking to see if Joel was managing to keep up he walked inside, making a path straight for that bar counter and leaned against it. "Whiskey bottle, Veronica honey and two glasses." Pitching her some coins to cover the expense.
That horse was more intelligent than some people she knew. Then again, look at the likes in which she was associated with. So many that could lift a ton, but had absolutely no idea on how to spell it. Glass on the rise as the door opened and those ocean blues would peg the two to enter. A long drink taken before the glass lowered to rest upon the table. Chair to slowly rock to and fro upon it's hind legs, with her own comfortably perched upon the table's surface, crossed at the ankles. Sly grin to inch it's way upon her lips, watching the Bounty Hunter and the proverbial mouse enter the tavern's commons.
"There will be a reckoning, nag! Just you wait!" The blonde-haired young man pointed his forefinger at the horse before stumbling into the tavern door, and then finally, walking inside to join Mr. Sommes at the bar. "Bloody horse I tell you, he has it in for me." He sat on a stool beside Mr. Sommes, reached into his backpocket to retrieve a hankerchief and wiped his face with it.

Raine rolled his eyes, smirking down at the seated Joel. One glass was shoved within the man's reach as he poured him a drink then placed his hand on the other's shoulder. "Ah c'mon. Don't let him get to you. He's messing with you and you're bait." With a rumbling chuckle Raine looked up across the room catching sight of the pirate lass. What a woman. Openingly grinning he flashed a wink at her. "Evening there dove. Ain't you looking lovely as a mermaid surrounded by all her sailors." Quickly pouring his own drink he picked the glass up and gave Joel a nudge before moving to JD's table. "Did you catch a glimsp of the pigeon at the end of the bar?" Passing this detail onto the young crewman in a 'not so' lowered voice. Once again those long, quick paced strides took him over to the pirate lady's table. "You're in luck dove. I'm free tonight and you got my undivided attention." Unceremoniously he dropped into a chair right next to her and grinned like a wolf with lamp chops in his maw.
Glass lowered and she'd just laugh upon hearing Raine's little compliment. "Been nippin' at the bottle a bit today eh Raine?" Laughter to remain with her words spoken. A glance over to see that Black Dogg had passed out at the table's end and was just snoring away. She'd over look it, until it got too loud for her to think. "Luck? I'd call it more o'a curse." Smirk to now form upon her lips, as she turned just a bit at the waist to look over at him. A glance towards the bar. "Ahh, I see you've let the Mouse out of yaer pocket t'night Raine." A moment to watch the lad before focus was back upon the Bounty Hunter.
The youth nodded absently letting the glass grind about on the bar counter. Joel seemed like the opposite of Raine, his hair was slicked back and pulled into a small ponytail and dressed in basic off-white tunic and brown breeches. He kicked absently against the stool's body. Joel turned his head and watches as Mr. Sommes saunters over to the Captain. Sometimes it seemed she just enjoyed torturing him. It does not matter, just remember the task at hand. The voice had always been his anchor, but it was still a hoot to play the bumbling idjit. The lad downed the drink in one gulp and wincesd, making a face as if he had to go to the bathroom.
Gulping down half his drink he belatedly realized he'd left the bottle on the bar. His voice sounded raw after the first swallow, turning to grin at her. "Nah, this is my first. Give me a few and I'll catch up." Long legs crossed over booted ankles, kicking back in a comfortable position. "So, you been missing me dove in my long absence?" What would that be, two maybe three days?" The thingyney grin flashed at her before he suddenly sat up and flagged Joel over to the table. "Hey there Joel, why don't you bring yourself and that bottle on over here." He finished off the half of his drink and eyed JD quietly, guardedly.
:The French were as deadly as they were beautiful, and Salem was no exception. His body was finely sculpted of bones and flesh, It seemed that God had blessed him with curves only thought to be had by a woman. Beautiful facial features softened as the light of the dimly lit tavern splashed over him. He entered with nothing more than a sway of the hips and song dangling helplessly from his mouth. It was a soft tune, one of mirth and happiness. Grasped tightly within his hand was a bright red apple, perfect in shape and eagerly awaiting mutilation by the knife. Easily the blade that was heild in his left hand slid into the fruit's skin, peeling back the crimson from the meat. It was lifted to his awaiting lips, already his tongue sampling the piece absentmindedly. The sweet juices flowed over the fleshy muscle like a sweet waterfall, urging his tastebuds into wanting more.: " Bonjour, Mon Capitain. Iz diz goin' to be anotha night dat I carry jou to bed ?" : Brows arched in curiosity as another apple slice was taken into his mouth.:
"Yae 'ave a lot'o catchin' up t'bae doin'." Grin to grow just a bit more, the glass lifted to finish off it's contents before the bottle of whiskey was snagged to refill it. "Oh ... Ai, I 'ad been a'missin' yae somet'in fearse Raine." Head tilted and a flutter of lashes directed towards him, and even in that action her sarcasim was easily noted. "Mae 'eart bae a pitter patterin' wit' yae return." Short snort of laughter to follow those words. Bottle resting upon that right thigh, as left hand rose with that glass and she'd drink again. Snickering hearing Frenchy, ocean blues would redirect upon him with a tilt of her head. "Come now Frenchy, it's not as iffen yae bae doin' t'at all dae time. I do manage on mae own." Grinning as that glass was lifted in the form of a toast in his direction, before it was lowered to awaiting lips and the contents drained from within. Not once did that chair's rocking motion cease, nor did she ever come close to teetering over. Legs to move as they uncrossed upon the table's surface, only to recross in the opposite direction. Bottle snagged to refill her glass, a glance spared towards Raine, and for some reason she was grinning. Touch of mischief to be noted in those ocean blues. Oh yes the swashbuckler was thinking bad thoughts.
:There was a glance given to the young lady with the Compass, don't think Salem didn't catch that stare. Lush lips parted, slick with the juices of the apple. Quietly he made his way over to her, setting down the apple and knife just before he took hold of her face, by tipping up her chin with the curved of his index.: " Iz okay to look Ma Cher....I dun bite..." : There was a pause and then a smile.: " 'ard...." : His tongue came out to gather up the fallen droplets of juice.: " Jou choose a pretty one, Mon Captian. I 'ope ze rest o' ze crew iz juzt as delicious...." : He purred softly.:
Brow rose as she glanced over to Salem, then to the woman he was refering to. "Shae bae nae one o'mine Frenchy. Just a wenc' suckin' up dae liquor 'n payin' fer it." Responding to the man before her attention was back on her drink.
JD would get a jiggle of brows in her direction before his attention was distracted by Joel suddenly leaving and a pruddy dandy making his way inside with a juicy apple. Two times he snapped his fingers. One for the bottle and the other for Leopold's apple. Leaning himself into her he gave her a boyish grin. "I was hoping to hear you say that dove. Mayhaps tonight you'll let me into your bed?" Leering grin and hopeful dreams of once and for all getting himself off the floor and the splinters out of his hid. A finger to paradon his absence, Raine stood up and hastened to the bar to retreive his whiskey bottle sitting on display.
: And then Salem heard a Kaboom off in the distance, one of his newly hired cooks blew something up! And so he dashed:
All alone now, Raine leaped across the tavern, bottle of booze in hand and landed on JD's lap. "Kiss me my little bird." Puckering lips smacked down at her.
He did what? Oh no, he just didn't do that. Landing on her lap that way caused her glass to fall in one direction, bottle in the other. "Alcohol abuse!" Accused openly with narrowed eyes. Hands lifted to fend off those puckering lips as she made a face. "The floor is right where you belong." Alone now, that thingyney brogue of her's would suddenly disappear.
He took a swig of his own whiskey. "C'mon JD. We're practically married. You're so tight with me you're squeaking dove." That crest fallen gaze would fill his steel blue eyes. "You could...always join me there." Trying for another angle and a boyish smile.

Rolling of eyes. "First off, we're not married. Secondly, I like sleeping alone, it's more roomy." Moving to push him off her lap, since he wasn't feather weight and she was beginning to lose the feeling in her legs. "Get off me." Said as she gave a good shove.
Exaggeratedly he slipped off her lap and hit the ground, bottle in hand he grabbed her by the boot and gave a yank to pull her off the chair. "You don't know what your missing. And that bed is l a r g e! C'mere." Hoping to catch her in his lap upon the floor.
He claimed to not having had much to drink, but he had to be drunk with the liberties he was taking at the present moment. Snagging her boot and drawing her feet from the table, then yanked out of her chair to be drawn upon his lap. "If you aren't drunk, you've surely bumped your head ... hard." Trying to recover from that sudden drop that placed her in that position. "It's not that big Raine." Narrowed eyes continued to watch him. "If you need some that bad, you can chose any of the women upstairs free of charge." Hand lifted as index tapped his chest. "Cause you're definately not getting it from me!"
He couldn't help but cringe at how she managed to phrase that remark. "You're cold woman, JD. And cruel." No wonder he loved her! Still thingying a slight grin he wrapped one arm about her and shoved the wkiskey bottle into her hand. "I don't want doxy wenches. And you seem to forget I hold the trumph card. Captain Blood Bath." Whispering that name close to her ear. "I don't know how time's gotten away, but it just ran out. The bargain stands as it did when first made. Ante up or else." Did he just threaten her? Ooooh.
Bottle snagged and held with a death grip as she heard those whispered words. Previously narrowed gaze held not the malice they did at the present moment. Mental daggers just pelted his chest as she cut out his eyes and tongue, in that mental vision. "You have absolutley no idea just how cold I can get Mister Sommes." Tone low and cold, she took not kindly to threats, and that would be proof enough. Bottle lifted to tilt it back and take a long drink of the whiskey, she needed it. Can't bust it over his head until the liquor was gone, she'd not waste a drop of that!
How thoughtful of her. "And stingy too." He practically had to pry the bottle from those death grip fingers to get himself another drink, after which they ended up in a visual stand off of untrusting glares. "I know how cold you can get JD. I've been sitting at your cold, cold feet for months. And we'll marry and I'll have your bed." He held up three fingers in front of her face. "Weeks, that's it. No longer or this bounty hunter will be 50,000 in gold richer." Slapping the bottle back to her hand Raine reached behind her neck and pulled her towards his chest. "I want a kiss and I want one willingly for once." He wasn't so amiable as she might have started to believe over the lastquiet months. He was just preoccupied and busy with other tasks. But now that he were here on the islands. She held his full attention. Which earned her a little defiant smirk.
"In my bed?" Voice rose an octive as both brows shot up. "Wait a minute there Raine, that wasn't part of the original agreement." Certain things he might force, but that was really pushing it. Bottle grasped in hand as it was given back. Three weeks, she had three weeks to come up with another plan since the old one had worn itself out. That gaze remained steadfast as she met his full on. Definace was something she could give back as good as she got. "You demand a kiss, and that it be willing. Tell me Mister Sommes, how you expect that to be so. I mean, honestly think about it. Nothing gained from being told to do it is done in a willing manner." She may be leaning against his chest with that grip upon the back of her neck, but she'd weasle that bottle between the two of them and gain a drink. He stoked the fire that was burning inside, now he had to deal with the flames without getting burnt along the way.
Somewhat stunned he barked right back at her. "Why the hell not?! I'll be your bloody husband for Hade's sake." Bottle snatched back out of her hand. Swig followed and a cursed stare. He practically cracked the bottle's bottom onto floor. "d**n it, JD. I've been an out right gent to you these months. I've woo'd, I've behaved myself. I sleep on the floor like an obdient dog. What other man do you know would put up with that, huh?" His hand fell away from her neck, for he knew she was right. He couldn't force her to care for him. Blackmail to her have, certainly. But the rest would have to come freely. Raine sighed, raking a hand through his messy hair. He growled, mumbling under his breath. "Loving you is hell. I don't think I like it none." Quickly adlibing. "The situation before you smart off." Taking on a little dignified feature. "I happen to enjoy the other. When you're not so d**n difficult."
She distressed him, in that she found herself a small victory. Frown had formed a bit of a grin now instead. "Plenty of folk that get hitched and all that who never sleep together Raine." Grin to grow a bit more. "Dignified folk live like that. You're not saying that you consider me anything but dignified, are you?" Oh yeah, she's laying it on thick, toying with him so openly. Bottle snagged back, now that her neck was free, it also permitted a further tilt back to take a nice long victory drink. When the bottle lowered, she'd look back into his eyes. "Nothing about me is easy and since I live in hell, anyone who is around me will do so also; so you're not alone in that." Leaning closer to him, her lips so dangerously close to touching his as she maintained full eye contact. "As far as what a man will put up with to be at my side, there be a full ship of them and they lay down more than just their bodies upon a hard wood floor, they'll lay down their life. I've never placed any demands upon you Raine, only rules I expect to be followed. I have agreed to marry you, with little choice as you continue to remind me. Three weeks, then you can stake your claim how ever you see fit, be it by blade or by the manical placed upon my finger."
That got her a brow raise. "We aren't going to be one of 'those' folk, JD." Why was she putting him off so? Suddenly the thought came to mind and while JD was lifting that bottle back to her lips and before she got too close with those lips of hers Raine slowly lifted his hand, keeping his eyes locked with hers. "I've proved myself enough around you JD and lent my blade as well. You know I'd lie down my life if it saved yours. That's not in question here, is it?" His face came a few inches closer to hers as she backed away. "I follow your bloody rules, play the cabin boy and body guard. I don't just want you marrying me in name JD. I want you as my wife. Is that so offensive?" Suddenly his hand cupped about the curve of her breast behind the shirt she donned tonight and his lips stole against her mouth, kissing away that voice of protest from her.

Eyes widened when his hand laid it's claim that moment of shock before the slow burn of something other began; and it wouldn't be as he might have hoped. Lips parted to indeed protest as her free hand moved to tightly grasp his wrist with that disfigured hold. No words to be uttered, when his lips claimed her's in that press which was also unexpected. His hold upon her chest would be tugged away and she'd return his kiss alright, it would be a hard press. When she withdrew a moment later, her voice would be that of a harsh whisper. "I'm not a sleeper Mister Sommes, and I'll be hog tied and hanged before I'll let any man treat me as such." A near hiss. "If you ever touch me like that again in public, I'll be a widow before I become a bride."
He didn't fight her movement to remove his hand where it shouldn't have been. It had been a calculated move on his part, testing her, so thus Raine immediately dropped his hand away. Though his lips continued to brush over her mouth, for in truth he enjoyed how she tasted and reacted to him, it ended when she suddenly broke away and reprimanded him just as she should. That thingyney act of his was dropped, the cool steel blues staring into her ocean depths where cunning and shrewd. "No JD, you're anything but a sleeper. Just as I figured out who you really were those months back; that was an easier assessment. My pardons for slowly realizing the truth of your nature or lack there of." With the tip of his index finger the bounty hunter tipped her chin up gently. "Why didn't you just tell me your a virgin? I should have guessed with the verbal battles you engage daily with men. You're not into women that much is obvious. But spending night after night on the floor of your cabin....I know without doubt you take no other man to your bed." He sighed a little, dropping his touch from her face. "JD, I would not take advantage of you. That happened once in my life, mistakenly. I regret it to this day." The hardness of his look eased away. "I love you. I want you to love me one day. Not just some masquerade put on for others. But the real thing." All of a sudden Rainewas wishing he knew her real name, how it would sound from his lips when he whispered it back to her. She never would tell him.
She just stared at him when he spoke with a look of surprise and perhaps even a bit of shock. "I don't know what you're talking about." Snipped quickly as she turned her attention upon the bottle grasped in hand. She'd not look at him, more could not. "I've been with plenty of men, hundreds, even thousands." Okay, over exaggeration, majorly since he'd guessed the truth. Bottle again on the rise, a deeper drink this time. Oh God how she needed to drink enough to just pass out. None had ever said such to her face before, even if they had suspected. A long gulp before that bottle lowered. "Who said that I don't?" How about a bit of a shocker in return, that no more said, the bottle was lifted to take another long drink.
Her denial only made him chuckle lightly. Not laughing at her, but that she would defend her rough exterior countenance she'd built up over the years along with that jaded reputation of the blood thirsty pirate. "JD give it up. I can see it clearly now, it's no use. Besides, I'd love being the first and only..." What was this? He pushed his face into her line of sight as she tried to dodge direct answers. "No one. Do you?" He fought against a hopeful smile trying to work its way across his features.
When that bottle lowered, she'd find herself looking directly into his eyes. A deep breath taken as brows furrowed. "Well, don't gloat about it! Do you see anyone else who's permitted to stay in my cabin?" Her round about way of saying yes. A bit of a snort to sound before that bottle was on the rise, she was going to attempt to drain it dry when it reached her lips this time.
Oh no she wasn't. He snagged the bottle away from her. "God, say it JD. Tell me you love me." Raine was smiling like a coot. "For that matter, tell me your name, even just your first instead of my having to refer to you by some blasted initials all the time." That bottle was set out of reach, replacing it with his arms slipped about her waist. Both were still on the floor. Raine was pretty used to this location after all these months.
A blink as that bottle was snagged from hand and her eyes would trail after it as it was drawn away. Back to his face is where attention now turned to view that smile plastered there. "It's just words." Grumbled. Another glance towards the bottle before she was gazing upon him. A moment in contemplation before she'd quickly mumble. "Jacquotte Delahay.." Not that she spoke fluent French, well, not that anyone could ever claim to have heard, but when her name did sound, the proper enunciation would be placed to let it be known the heritage of the woman that never laid claim to any land.
Which would cost her a roll of eyes. "Words that matter when they are from the heart, dove." If he looked shocked it was because he was. Two questions she honestly and freely answered. "Jacquotte." Speaking her name with a french turn of the tongue. He smiled, liking it. "When we're alone, I will call you that for I like how it sounds." Raine's fingers trailed in her hair, pushing it back behind her ear on one side. "I love you.... Jacquotte." He leaned in to whisper, brushing a kiss where his words had just traced. "My wife to be is a virgin, she has a beautiful name and is the most cunning and ruthless pirate on the high seas. How did I get so lucky?" The smile flipped over to a grin as he sat back. "Oh...and she loves me too. Though she's too embarrassed to say it." Daring her, wasn't he?
"Embarassed?" Scoffed. "I am not." Defiant as well. A lift of her chin as she continued to hold his gaze. "I think you should perhaps be a bit louder with your words, I don't think the wenches upstairs heard you." Of course their conversation was being shared in undertones, so the accusation was one of sarcasm at it's best. Although that part of her being a ruthless pirate was a brownie point on his behalf. Arrogant she was in that fact, as any pirate captain would be, and was. Another glance towards that bottle before looking back at him. "You tell a bloody soul any of my secrets, and they'll be feasting on your tongue at the very next meal to follow." Not a soul knew, nor ever suspected.
He immediately snagged up the bottle and held it at arms length. "Then say it. C'mon dove. Say you love me." The grin just wouldn't die. Was he gloating a little? d**n straight, this was the best tidings he'd had in a long time. "I won't breath a word, dove. You have my word and I, your honor." Taking that reaching hand of hers he brought it to his lips, raining kisses to those knuckles. "Besides, a husband wouldn't spread gossip about his own wife."
She could see he was gloating and it did grate upon her nerves. It was his fault, how it went in her mind and recollection. His presence nightly upon her cabin floor, being at her side during business dealings like a silent sentenel. He had a way of growing on her, and d**n him and his tender kisses that had come so close to melting her resolve. Those light touches that awoke the woman she fought so hard to keep dormant deep within and under that protective shell. But she wanted a drink, and she knew there was only one way to quench her thirst. Her eyes to meet his and hold for a long moment in silence, and when she spoke it was the barest of whispers. "I love you Raine." Now she was reaching for that bottle. She did as asked, now it was time for the reward.
That good ol' bounty hunter had a smile as wide as the ocean over his lips. "aww...." He gave her, bringing the bottle within range of her reaching fingers. No so fast. With a snap of his wrist the bottle was flipped away and the liquor spilling over the wooden floor. If she cried a protest of such a waste he'd join in with her, but not before Raine wrapped her in his arms and drowned her in a most appropriate raining of soft, warm kisses.
Of course she'd cry out in protest, he was wasting good liquor by spilling it out all over like that. "Raine!" Gaze would flit between him and the catastroply caused when the bottle was flipped away. More would have been said, if not for the action to follow. As per usual, in the beginning she'd put up a bit of a fight, well not so much as a literal defense, but she did have to put on a show for those who were watching. Couldn't make it look as if she would easily give in to this man, even if the fight lasted not long when she was soon returning those affections. But... He still wasn't getting into her bed tonight, or any night soon. Oh no, she'd not give in to the man that easily. There was still many hurdles to over come before she'd give up that one part of herself to anyone, even him!

Life had been steadily growing on all the islands, and this was noticed with the increase of business. Where it usually only took a few of them to wait on the tables and those at the bar, now took shifts. As was the same with those who awaited in the rooms upstairs. Quite busy were things when the ships hit port, and all made it a point of skipping from one island to the other, enjoying all there was to offer.
Her shift was to start in about a half hour, though she had shown up early after spending the day riding through the country side upon horse back. How she enjoyed the warmth of the days, the feel of the sun upon her flesh. In the wilds, she felt clean and free, unlike the way she felt when she hit the tavern floor with tray in hand.
Sipping on a hot mug of coffee, she peered out the opening from the kitchen that allowed viewing of the tavern's main room beyond. Already seats had begin to fill, as dockhands and sailors alike filtered in to begin their night of being jolly. Which usually meant she went home with a few more bruises. The price to pay to gain the extra coin being saved.
The crowd that came in during the next two hours, would be those seeking a meal and rest before heading home or out to paint the town. It would be when they left that the drinking crowd arrived.
